No, Minty the cat is about 18 months old now and Coco is just over 6 months.
They get on well, if anything it's the cat who torments the dog! Really funny to watch when the dogs trying to relax & cat just walks up and starts on her (in a nice way, of course).
Dog tries to eat cats food, so cat just goes and sits next to dogs dish as if to say 'don't temp me cus you'll starve'!!!!!
aww they look lovely together!
We have a multi-cat household with one very big, very daft doberman as some people already know- we introduced the dobe as a pup when we had our old moggies - they either tolerated her or steered well clear (and 8 years on, our one surviving moggie from that time still stays in the attic but she always was a scaredy cat).
6 years ago we decided to get our first ever pedigrees - and most breeders insist on pedigrees being house cats. A bit of a shock to the system but not so hard to get used to after a while.
Our first kittens were a Maine Coon and a Norwegian Forest Cat, followed shortly after by an Oriental and then a Bengal. All coped admirably with being investigated quite intimately by a huge, gallumfing clumsy dog with a booming bark and big bony elbows.
After an initial altercation between the bengal kitten and the dog at the top of our stairs, the pair became firm friends and have been ever since. They are partners in crime when it comes to raiding the food stocks and breaking and entering into rooms they arent supposed to be in.
Our Oriental may be tiny still but she came from a GSD breeder and was used to living with 10 GSDs and a Great Dane. Our wegie also came from a dog owner, which has been a great help. having said that, they were so well socialised as kittens that they are happy to live around other pets and people - I think this is key to introducing new pets - find one that's been in a stable 'bomb-proof' household with as much intro to people and pets as possible.
Since 2003/4, we've extended the feline family further and introduced a rescue bengal (who spent her first 4 months refusing to come out of the bathroom then suddenly decided she'd be happy curled up with the dog but doesnt care so much for some of her feline companions); a scaredy wegie rescue who also came to us too timid to venture downstairs but then suddenly decided he'd quite like to make friends with us, the other cats and the dog provided she doesn't bark at him; we've had an accidental litter of kittens who all spent time with the dobermutt so they were all chilled out around her - we kept Arnie and his brother Solo often comes back to stay with us- he always remembers where he is and swans around tormenting the dog at every opportunity. And last year we fostered a tiny scrap of a moggie riddled with cat flu - we decided she'd be too hard to rehome so brought her in to stay with us- we were worried about how she'd feel about the dog but to be honest she never feared Ailsa - she's still a small thing but feisty in character (her mum was a feral and she was found outside huddled next to a wheelie bin).
and like others say - often its the cats who have the upper hand on the dog - I would have no worries about introducing cat/dog now, provided its done carefully, supervised and the two species have an escape route when they need it- for us, having dog gates makes life easier.

Your six month old puppy tries to relax?? :wow: What happened to mine? She never tried to relax til she was about 2 years old!
They're gorgeous :D I'm still a bit gutted that I only live up the road from you and still haven't seen you out with Coco!

I'm always out Lotti - but don't forget she's only got little legs which get knackered a lot quicker than dallies long legs.
When she's had a good run she flops on the rug - then its minty's attack time!! lol
Will bump into you at some point I'm sure, but don't shout at me when you have a wiggly little JRT running up to say Hi, :hihi:

Don't worry, T will be more than happy to play with her.. it's Eddy that's the grumpy one. My neighbour calls him Skin Ed because he has a reputation for being aggressive with other dogs (he's actually just a bit anxious and makes himself sound aggressive!).
Will look forward to bumping into you at some point (I guess it'd help if I got out for some decent walks some time soon!)
