On Saturday at about 4.30pm I could here the distant sounds of sirens. It wasn't unusual for the sirens to stop after passing the Tinsley roundabout so I carried on with my tasks.

A little later I could here the sirens again and couldn't here any vehicles zooming up Bawtry Road so I began to think there could be a local problem. The shrilling and shadow of a fast moving helicopter crossed me as it came to a hover just above the houses gesturing towards the Norborough Road entrance of the park.

I could see in the distance three police cars near the junction and began to worry as my girlfriend and baby daughter had gone near there just half an hour earlier to look after some local youngsters.

The park was full of kids playing games so I quickly got to the swings to find them but they weren't there. I began to panic a bit and asked what had happened. It turned out a human being had stabbed another human being. It is worrying that this occured so close to where lots of children are supposed to be safe. A local youth worker was first on the scene and gave first aid.

The news makes front page headlines in the Star with a title Blood on the Street - Man suffers knife wounds after asylum seekers' argument.

I originally put in the words Asylum Seeker on Saturday but the thread was promptly removed by our over liberal and politically correct moderater "Toothless Tony".

Owdfart had a go at me as well. If the star can use the words Asylum Seeker so can I.

It turns out the guy that got stabbed is in the Northern General hospital with a knife wounds.

Ah so now it becomes clear why you sent me the abusive PM. Did you send Tony one just the same or did you only send it to me ?

My message this morning wasn't meant as a dig at you at all, but if you want to throw a tantrum like a spoilt kid and spit the dummy out then get on with it.

Just so you don't get carried away and start bashing your gums again. I will clarify to you the reason for my posting this morning.

My asking if you were taking the pee was purely to find find out where and why your earlier thread had gone, and I wondered where all the replies had gone too. :|

too wrongs dont make a right :P

i just think theres way too much of people finding the worst things about blacks, asylum seekers muslims etc and posting them willy nilly, tbh i think its to cause a backlash AND cause more people to resent them, which in turn makes them resent us, and bitterness takes over, then violence, its a vicious circle.

if somebody stabs somebody why cant it be man a stabs man b?

doesnt really matter if theyre white, black, chinese, pink, blue, punk

the only thing we need to know about them is.......theyve probably got a screw loose tbh and need locking up

Surely that encompasses all people with any mental illness then?

Even folk who suffer clinical depression - of which there are millions.

the majority dont go round stabbing people tho.

and it is a mental problem that makes you do that.........being black doesnt, being an asylum seeker doesnt

This forum is doing my head in now. My god, an ASYLUM SEEKER stabbed another ASYLUM SEEKER. There, I said it. My god people! Whats wrong with stating facts all of a sudden?

Thanks Nez, it doesn't hurt those mature enough to know the facts.

The saga continued yesterday with families either side of Norborough Road throwing bricks at each other and norrowly missed neighbours of mine as they drove down the road.

We seem to have a very fluid population in Tinsley with no disposable income which is dragging the whole place down.

What on earth has the poor old "City Hall" done to you...

...did you go to a gig there you didn't like or something...

...if you did, don't worry, it should be much better once the refurb' has been finished.

If you knew me you would probably think I am one of the least 'politically correct' person you ever met. However, the other contributers seem to have summed things up nicely.

However for clarification from a SF moderation POV, it is inflamatory to have a title that makes an issue of a stabbing having something to do with asylum seekers when it plainly does not. The Star can do what it likes - especially if it helps it to sell a few more newspapers. Thankfully, we don't have such commercial pressures.

THAT is why it was removed, not because there is any sort of 'ban' on the use of certain words.

However, reposting removed threads and winding people up is VERY likely to get YOU a ban Hadron.

tony - you should let people have their opinons on this matter.

Tony

We do let people have their opinions. However, this is a story about a man stabbing another. The fact that they may or may not be seeking asylum is neither here nor there.

This is a criminal offence and the Police will treat it as such. The Police won't give a hoot about their status. Why should you?
