Hi people,
A mate is wanting to sell a laptop but he doesn't know how much for. How much could he get for a IBM Thinkpad 2004?

Well Googling for Thinkpad 2004 comes up with no obvious list of hardware specs, without which no-one would be able to give you any idea. If you mean it's a Thinkpad that was bought in 2004 then it could be anything.

What (other) model numbers are on there?

Apparently its a IBM ThinkPad T42

There's re-conditioned ones going for about £250 online, but personally I think that's a bit optimistic.

It is from 2004, & consumer hardware is only really guaranteed to work for 5 years or so, so it's just about at the end of it's usable life. You can get new ones for around £300 that are significantly better.

If you ask for £150-£200 for it you may get some takers, maybe ask for £250 & be prepared to accept £50-£100 less, & haggle for as much as you can get for it. If someone's not looked into it properly you may get lucky.

Watch this one on ebay and see what it goes for

I would expect about £130.
