fancy dress is optional and I always think the best time to go is just as its getting dark. Lots of people, adults too dress up and its good to see. There are always a few rides and stalls selling food, sweets, drinks, etc. Its a good night that me and my son enjoy every year.
I'd agree. Go just as it's getting dark. It's the best atmosphere

what time does it actually start? Is it usually about 3? I'm taking the kids so I don't want to be out too late, but cant remember when I went last year.

We take our daughters and usually arrive around 2 or 3.
We usually start off in RSVP or Ha! Ha! (although last year, I think we actually stayed in the latter....). The real magic begins as night falls.
Great atmosphere and something the council and participants seem to have got just about right. I still think it's a shame the shops close as normal as, with so many people in town, I'd think it would be a great opportunity to take some business.
But it is a Sunday I suppose!
Anyway, we've all dressed up in the past (really gone to town, so to speak) but I think I'll go as myself this time - that'll really frighten ya!!
