Hi,

I thought with recent comments about the Ball in Hillsborough and it's youth club attendance of an evening - it may be interesting to see what the rest of Sheffield is like.

Is under age drinking becoming stupid and are pubs encouraging it? Are Off Licenses as bad?

There was a post sometime ago but it related to just Ecclesfield it can be found here (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76&highlight=underage+drinking)

I used to go out underage years ago.
I'm only 20 now, and i can remember going to Roxy's, then i must have only been 15ish? So yea i do think it's a problem, they need to come up with something new to stop them, But if they dont go drinking in pubs they will only be on the streets terrorising old ladies at shops Etc, so it works both ways!
I say bring the drinking in pubs law down to 16! that would keep a lot of young people off of the streets.

I used to live in York. When I was about 15 they did a big clamp down on underage drinking - meaning it was impossible to buy drink anywhere - and you weren't able to go in a pub even if you drank soft drinks.

As my birthday is in July and I look pretty young (still do, got id'd a couple of weeks ago and I'm 23!) this meant that I had no social life in upper sixth when everyone else was going out.

Realised I don't really know what the point I'm getting to is (sorry - hard day at work) but I do think it's better for kids to be inside rather than on street corners.

I'm not sure if there is a bigger problem with underage drinkers than there has been for a long time.

I agree slightly, because for those who have not yet seen me then I look younger than i actually am, and I can walk into some pubs and not get hassled for ID the swim inn thats in town, they don't ask for my id......so if a reputable pub can then so can any other pub:rolleyes:

Get my point?

I agree kids need to be off the streets but not really in pubs. I want to go out and drink with adults not kids who can't handle their booze, throw up everywhere, fight and in general just act like a pain in the backside.

Yeah but it isn't just kids who do that, half the student population do to - that's why I stay away from crap like Kingdom, Purple and all the other scally infested **** holes.
