A mate of mine has asked me for advice on employment law and I don't have anything beyond basic knowledge.
Who can she contact - what organisation would be able to offer advice via phone? Itis a little too specialised for a CAB, I was thinking ACAs - not sure if they have a helpline at all?
Thanks

Itis a little too specialised for a CAB,
But they could point you in the right direction.
Thanks both, I will have a look on the website and Malky, good idea I suspect the local CAB will be familiar with folk askng about it and will have contacts.
Hi, I once received help from the "sheffield law society" was based near the Wicker. They were very good, and did not charge for help. I believe that the way that it works is that new solicitors gain hands on experience by giving free time. Hope this helps you. Dave.

I needed legal advice in 2007 and phoned Wake Smith and Tolefield. I had a free half hour meeting and then got my legal expenses on my house insurance. I took on a big company and succeeded. This company helped me so much that I cant speak highly enough about them. I hope your friend gets the advice they need.:)

try acas, pop ACAS into google and it will take you straight to their website
acas are your best bet and i think if you specified the problem someone on here would be able to advise you also

Glad to hear that.
I used to work there :)
Thanks for replies everyone, I am passing the info on.
Funny you should mention Wake Smith & Tofields, I went to Tofields (as it was then before the merge with WS) a couple of years ago too, having been chased for some old debt that a subsequent tenant of my flat incurred, and through legal aid got fantastic help. It took a year, but they have done a sterilng job in sorting out the cr*p I was suffering from a certain large company, and gave me peace of mind in the end. I'd recommend them too!:)
