I know the students have gone but its rediculas! Last week I went round town on satday night and we was in yates's at about 9pm... Half of it was empty! we just walked up to the bar and then sat down, like on a sunday...

All the bars were the same, even the club (republic) was far from full, gaping holes all night everywhere... And no women hardly!

So thinking it was just the students that have gone we went to rotherham last night.... even worse! Did'nt see anyone out until at the latest 10pm, and only 1 bar was even half full... the club filled up later on but it was still like going out midweek...

whats wrong with everyone? it just shows how important the students are, dont people round here like going out round town anymore? i'd be interested to know the reasons...

Its the same in Barnsley. Been out there on Saturday nights and the place has seemed almost deserted, yet there were loads of people in Leeds at 7pm yesterday, just as there were plenty out in Nottingham two weeks ago last Saturday.

friday was busy... S1, yates and republic....
I don't go out saturdays cos they are way to expensive and friday is a good night anyway!

We live near a take-away. You can tell which weekend payday falls ;)

Don't forget - people have holidays (so they're not here) to pay for (so they stay in) and have parties in their own garden (coz it's cheaper/less hassle/can go on later) at this time of year

It was packed at the greyhounds on friday, then went straight down to leadmill which was busy but did'nt see town at all. Satday has always been the official weekend night and it just seems sad that its so quiet in whats supposed to be the UK's 4th largest city.

Like what firecracker said, leeds is always rammed... so why is'nt sheffield?

dont forget it is the "works weeks " at the moment most trade dries up around this time.
i also think more & more people are goin out Thurs & Sundays but are perhaps staying in more local pubs.my daughter and her beer monster friends haven't been "up town" on asturday for at 5 months - so could be a trend.

50,000 Students going home + holidays + BBQ's and stuff for the summer = not much going on round town!!
