View Full Version : Lottie's back and don't you know it! (puppy page)
Right!
I wasn't going to post much about my puppy because I thought people would be bored by now!
But on my (lovely) thread that Savbaby started about me being in hospital (thankyou, it made me feel very special) and in personal messages people keep saying keep us up to date on the puppy.
So here I am!
This is my puppy page!
I've spoken to the breeder of the new puppy and she has agreed that we can go and see her Tuesday night (that's Tuesday the 2nd August)!!!!!!!
I haven't seen the new one yet but if we go with a girl (which is what we initially intended) she will probably be called Takara. It means Treasure and I think it's a lovely name!
She'll be coming home with us August bank holiday. She'll be just over seven weeks then.
I am going to ask the breeder specifically if it's ok to post pictures here (the previous breeder that went wrong threatened to sue for posting pictures)
I've decided that as soon as she's old enough we will try to get assessed for Pets As Therapy.
I would love to put something back into the hospitals and so am hoping that she will be a suitable PAT dog. (any advice welcome)
So, that's an update for now! Keep your eyes peeled!
We're going on Tuesday to pick. There's only one black spotted girl which is what I would ideally be looking for but if one of the liver spotted girls or one of the boys tug my heart strings hard enough plans may change...
Have to go now, have something (easy to eat) for lunch!

If as you will be, you are the owner of the dog I do not see how they can stop you posting pictures.Unless of course the breeder has something to hide, even then if you don't name him/her what's the problem ?
Enjoy your puppy and try to be the person your puppy thinks you are.
Really good luck with this one Lottie, and good to see you are home.
Bon courage!
Lots of love
Raine and Tristana XX
matsalleh,
it was a long story but I said that the breeder (not saying her name) wasn't having the puppy hearing tested and apparently two of the other people who were buying puppies saw it and saw the photo of the puppy in her kitchen and recognised the kitchen so cancelled the puppy!
She did actually invite us to take photos though.
Raine,
Thanks very much! I'm around all summer as far as I know... don't know if I'll get the operation I was supposed to be having I have to wait and see!

Oh dear, a bitter, sick and twisted git who can't bear to see anyone else happy.
PAT dogs are tested very carefully to make sure they are not disease ridden.
It is proven through research that animals can provide a therapy for people who are ill and as someone who has spent her whole life in and out of hospitals, I can vouch for this.
It is impossible to recover from an illness if you are unhappy and a great source of happiness for many people is to have these animals visit them whilst in hospital.
If the patient doesn't like dogs, they don't see the dog.
And I seriously doubt that the dog would be allowed to lick a patient. The patient would wash their hands after stroking the dog and be left much happier than they were before they saw it.
I don't know what experience you have of hospitals, but it doesn't sound like much, I have spent a long time in hospital and believe you me, critically ill patients do not reside in the normal wards. They are moved to the INTENSIVE CARE UNIT.
A dog would not be allowed into ICU, you fool.
Even patients family have to gown up and wash etc. before going into ICU so a dog would have no chance.
I do NOT think it is acceptable to let an animal crap all over the place and yes, I DO think graffiti lowers the tone.
I would always pick up after my dog, it is NOT acceptable for anyone in any circumstance to just leave it for someone to walk in. Unfortunately there are owners who don't see it this way.
I do need the treatment yes, I have a rare disease that affects my whole circulatory system and has nearly killed me 5 times. MOST people are very supportive of me and knowing that I have this puppy to look forward to is helping me get through it.
It is such a shame that you seem to have no happiness in your life and instead have to bring others around you down as soon as something good happens for them.
I pity you.
ETA: Bitches don't have balls.
Would people please tell me if they have a problem with me starting this thread?
People had requested updates so I started this so that I had somewhere to post them but I have had one particular forum member (ahem, sonofman) pm me telling me that nobody gives a f*** about me and my f***ing animal.
If people have a problem with this thread please do tell me and if I feel it is causing a problem I will get a moderator to take it off and will not talk of it again.
I feel though, that if people have a problem with reading it, they should just not read it. It clearly says my name and Puppy Page so it's not easy to get confused as to what it's about!
I don't know, some people just pick fights...
If you don't mind, I will continue to update you on the progress.
i have no problem with you starting this thread and im sure many other people dont, it was a nice thread to read.
ignore what those BRAINLESS IDIOTS have said.
carry on with the updates :)
cheers Janny!
Glad you enjoyed it! I shall definitely continue (vent my excitement!)
Any more info and I will post it!

PIF_Tails 31-07-2005, 18:38 Lotti,
I am concerned that you can get your puppy at such a young age. i.e Seven weeks.
Puppies and kittens need to stay with their mothers until at least 12 weeks old to be a properly developed animals, who are ready to go to their new home.
If the puppy or kitten is without mothers in a rescue shelters, it is reasonable to adopt out at eight weeks at the very very minimum. Not earlier.
I have never heard of a responsible breeder releasing a puppy at seven weeks :( are you sure this person is responsible not a back yard breeder ?
Here are the differences if you are unsure ...
http://www.whyneuter.com/breeders.html
Letting a puppy go at seven weeks is certainly ringing alarm bells for me.
If you decide to go ahead with this adoption, just make sure he/she gets the full check up and blood tests at your own vets asap.
PS. I love hearing about your search for your puppy and look forward to seeing the pictures. Just ignore the tactless animal hating posters out there :)

Keep posting about the puppy Lottie, and ignore the merchant banker ;)
You keep it up Lotti.

I want to hear ALL about your puppy - I'm dog mad so wanna hear EVERYTHING !!!!
Thanks peeps!
PIF Tails, I have read up about it and 8 weeks is the usual age, I'd be surprised if a breeder wanted to keep them til 12 weeks.
If a puppy was leaving any earlier than 7 weeks then I would be worried but I know for a fact that she's a very responsible breeder and she has told me that if she is at all concerned that they are not ready they will stay another week.
They will actually be just over 7 weeks but she comes from a very big litter so will be weaned earlier. She doesn't usually let them go until 8 weeks.
The breeder has said that date because people will have more time to spend with them, it will be more convenient for people and she would rather new owners spend more time with a slightly younger pup to get them properly settled in than less time with an older pup.
I am not at all concerned about this breeder as she has been recommended to me by other top breeders but I'm going on Tuesday so will be able to see for myself.
Thanks all for your support, it's a shame some people are so miserable!

More like sonofabitch! and I'm not talking about the dog variety....
Why don't you go and sober up and while you're at it get a personality too
sonofman leave lottie alone you sad cretin. You are obviously in need of help. I find you despicable and I dont think there is a place on the forum for you.
Thanks for standing up for me peeps!
I think he's just a lonely, sad, sad man.
It's a shame because I love this forum and there are great people on it, like you lot and then there's people like him, who obviously got lost on their way to a forum that would suit them better and unfortunately stumbled upon this one and somehow managed the mammoth task of registering!
It's a shame...
Anyway, back to the topic :D
Go for a bitch Lotti. Ours is a great dog, only 18 months old and very sweet. She's like a shadow, wherever you go there's a doberman stuck to your leg as though my trousers are made of Velcro ;)
Aw thanks Tony.
we were going for a bitch originally.
I'm so excited now! I'm doing everyone's head in!
Splodge_CRB 31-07-2005, 23:12 You're a star Lotti!
Go on Tony...slap that a**hole with a ban!
Ok, back on topic
I used to look after a male liver spot dalmation for a friend and he was a great character. Very territorial over his bones, he wouldn't let me in the kitchen for hours until he'd finished it. He also had the revolting habit of regurgitating meals...for the pleasure of dining twice I assume. Funnily enough I regurgitated my own meal the first time I saw him do it! After that I'd feed him and leg it out the door for half an hour.. I've got fonder memories of him than that though, hope you get a good'un too
*ps Tony, we have a male Doberman cross who is just as soppy as yours.....just wish I could convince the postman tho

hey sonofman u can stop being such a bitch to lotti. so wot if she wants to talk about her dog? let her i say! and if u dunt like it then tough! u seem to be the only one who has a problem about lotti posting about this and whats it to you? its not for u to decide what gets posted and what doesnt its for the moderators to decide. so just shut the **** up!!!!! if u dunt want to hear about her dog dont read the thread its as simple as.....god some people just dont have any lives do they?
Lotti - great to see you back on the forum again - go girl!
I, and many others want to hear all about your puppy and like you said, if other's don't - don't read the thread (aint rocket science is it)
Hope you can get some pics on Tuesday and post them on here for us.
My doglet is 12 months old now and nothing like the cute puppy he was when we got him. Now he's a cute dog and he is the softest, lovliest dog ever (though i'm sure your pup will be equally as lovely lotti).
He's really transformed my life, I take him out and laugh at all the cute, silly things he does - what would I do without him?!
I think he'd make a great PAT dog too, he's got such a soft temprement and loves other people/dogs and children.

hehhe well said!
redrobbo 31-07-2005, 23:53 I have absolutely no interest in dogs or puppies, and have no interest in the kittens and cats owned by another poster. But.....I've read all these threads and posts with interest. Why?
Because they tell me so much about the lives and personalities of the forummers concerned, and the happiness that they (and other forummers) derive from their pets. I am left with a feeling of contentment from the sheer pleasure you give to other people who share your interest.
So, Lotti, although I am not a pet owner myself, thank you for sharing your interest and obvious pleasure with me and so many other forummers. I shall look forward to the next instalment - when the puppy arrives to stay with you!
Red
P.S. Really pleased to know you are now out of hospital. My thanks to savbaby who has kept me informed of your progress.
Hi thanks all!
I think we just have to accept that sonofman was dropped on his head when he was so small and that it's not his fault!
We can return to the topic now as I feel he has had too much interest already!
And thanks for your kind words. I'm looking forward to finding any new info out about my pup so that I can tell you guys...
Thanks!
Lottie
Oh and thankyou to Splodge and Hels for your doggy posts!
They sound like wonderful dogs!
WallBuilder 01-08-2005, 01:02 I want to hear lots and lots about any new puppies and just love billing and cooing over puppy pics.
I've spent several months in the Hallamshire and would of given anything to have a dog come to visit as I missed my one so much. He was a very big black German Shepherd and so would of been impossible to smuggle in to the place in a bag and I didn't know anyone who I could nick a guide dog harness off. I've heard about the PAT scheme and would of liked to get my present dog involved but unfortunately he's to nervous for this type of thing. When I looked after the Akita I used to walk him over to the hospital and his owner who was mobile would come down in the lift and meet us at the front doors. The second time I turned up three patients were waiting and on the third occasion I think about half the ward must of had some urgent need to go to the little newsagents and so just happened to be able to come over and say hello.
I like all dogs and at present know three dalmatians who are all adorable and so I'll be watching out for a new one being walked by some-one wearing pink boots.
I'll be watching out for a new one being walked by some-one wearing pink boots.
hehehe you do that!
I know what you mean, I've been in a lot and would have given anything to have that!
When I was at the childrens I once had a man come round with some guinea pigs and another ward got to meet a donkey (don't ask me how they got it in there without making a mess! I have no idea!)
I think PAT is a great idea, it is actually proven to help people recover faster!
I mean, I was in hospital and missed my cat so much, when I got out, having my cat to sit with me all day long and fuss was a great comfort!
I also think these PAT people are great, it actually costs you to volounteer as a PAT visitor, but it's well worth it! It becomes a regular thing that you go to the same place and meet the same long term kids/elderly patients every week, fab idea!
Don't worry Wallbuilder, as soon as I know I'm ok to post pics, they'll be here! they only live about an hour away so once I've mastered the motorway (only been driving alone 3 months!) I'll be going to see them a lot!
I get on really well with the breeder already and we haven't even met yet so I'm sure that she won't mind me coming and helping out (especially as she's pregnant and may want some added help!)
Lottie
PIF Tails, after the concern you raised with me about the 7 week old pup I thought I should post this that I got from another forum (specifically for dalmatian owners/breeders) that a dalmatian breeder posted:
I have always let mine go at 7 weeks by that time the mum has had enough and the pups are ready for their new homes. Poor old Purdy has had two lots of 12 and one of 10 so she is usually more than ready for a rest. The other two having smaller litters were not quite so stressed. I also find my girls become 'scared' for want of a better word when the little monsters run at them. In the book of the bitch the recomend 7 weeks as the optimum time to leave as this is when puppies are most keen to adapt to changes. I have found no problems whatsover when they leave and they all seem well adjusted members of society

Great comeback Lotti. It would seem that there are a few people on this forum who are determined to make nasty remarks. I've recieved several insulting remarks on my threads when there's really been no need.
Some people just have chips on their shoulders and seem to feel compelled to be spiteful.
But I for one am very glad to hear you're feeling better, and thrilled to hear you're finally getting a dog. I think you'll make a wonderful owner.
Are you going for a dalmation then?

It's a shame your holiday's not improved your disposition any. You're only just back, and already looking to make the cheap shot.
StarSparkle
PS Apologies, Lotti, for having to say the above on your thread. I'm delighted that you're feeling better, and wish you all the very best with your new dog. Good wishes to you :)

Let's not have another slanging match, please. Let's keep it to Lotti's original topic.

Thanks Joe,
Starsparkle I was actually very glad to have that remark from JBee, ok, i've not always agreed with all of JBee's posts either but I'm glad that they felt they could support me on this one!
I was worried that my response was too OTT and am glad to have had responses that back me up.
I'll keep on topic now :D

OMG.... StarSparkle???? I was talking about the guy who was criticising Lotti and offering her support. How could that possibly be derived as a cheap shot? Who the hell am I supposed to be shooting at? I was talking about forum posters IN GENERAL (there are a fair few antagonistic ones out there), not trying to reignite any kind of slagging match with you.
I thought we'd burried the hatchet weeks ago... and I'd totally forgotton about our little music debate until you just reminded me with that post.
:loopy:
For god's sake, lets stay on topic.
Lottie - am really pleased to hear you're getting a dog, and I don't think you should pay any attention to any posters who give you negative feedback, because you've looked into it very carefully and I think you'd put the dog's welfare first.
Now how about answering my question... Are you going for the dream Dalmation, or have you chosen something else?
Mod. Note
JBee,
Just please leave it now.
Joe
Oh sorry JBee, forgot about that!
Yes, we're getting a little dalmatian puppy! I will find out if the breeder minds me posting pictures and if it's ok will post photos after I've been to see my new spotty baby tonight!
Thanks for your support JBee, is much appreciated, I know you weren't using my thread to start any cheap shots.
Photos
Photos!!!!
Now first,
I've not definitely got her yet, I decide for sure in 2 weeks time when I go to see them again to make sure that her eyes turn brown. Most dalmatians (especially liver spotted like this one) are born with blue eyes which gradually darken to become black/brown.
Both parents have brown eyes but that doesn't mean she couldn't have blue eyes and blue eyes is a fault in the ring when showing a dalmatian.
I have to go back and see them all again and check that she is the one that I want but unless there's a drastic problem I'm sure she will be! I still get first pick when I go back though so I won't lose her!
I always said I'd have a black but this one chose me and when I picked her up she licked me to death! We fell in love! then, after she'd played with my feet and licked my chin (and sucked my mum's chin quite hard) she fell asleep in my arms!
I've attached a link to a thread I made on another forum with the pictures on so you can see them all straight away! I hope it works!
photos of my Takara (http://www.dogweb.co.uk/talkdogs/my-new-baby-hopefully_16458.html)
Hope you like! She's sooo tiny!!!!
WallBuilder 03-08-2005, 01:39 That cute little dog doesn't look tiny I think she just looks puppy sized and is just adorable!!.
With you talking about blue or brown eyes it made me remember a dalmatian I met once that had one blue eye and one brown, very odd. I know I've met collies with different coloured eyes but never a dalmatian but I still thought he was very handsome.
When I get to see puppies I usually end up wanting to take them all home and so dread the times when I've had to go round the animal rrescue ccentres as I'm a softy and can be won over by big sad eyes far too easily.. .
Awwww Lottie, she is totally adorable!
I can see you are going to have LOADS of visitors as soon as you bring her home - me included!!!!
hehe!
Wallbuilder, I know she is puppy sized, but that is tiny compared to what she will be!
I know there were 12 to see and I just stood looking at them all wondering where to start! I said to my mum, we could take them all...
Hels, you are welcome to come! Any time! You're right, I will probably have a few visitors although I think most will just be relieved that I have got the dog so I might quieten down a bit... nuh uh!
Yeah, come round whenever for a pet and a cuddle! I could do with the company anyway! lol
Lottie
OH MY GOD! SHE IS SOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!
Am really jelous of you now Lottie, but I could never fit a dog in my tiny flat, so I'll just have to make do with a horse and bunny, and my mum's dogs for a bit longer!
She's so gorgeous though. And you look smitten! You've got to post loads more pix of her as she grows up.
Don't worry JBee! Will do!
I'm going to get my sister to take photos and videos of training and I can take random photos and she's said I can use her camcorder to make random videos too!
So, there'll be lots!
I am - very smitten :D
Wheyyy Lotti's found a doggie \o/.
Glad you have found a nice pup after the last experiance, and glad to know your out of hospital now too.
I have to agree with Lotti on the pets helping people get better/feel better. My Great Aunt works for a charity who take pets into schools for people for handicapped children, and adults sometimes. She says the difference it makes to them is immense, and they take great delight in seeing animals as many of them dont have them at home, because of the disability. I know how my cat cheers me up when I feel down, so just imagine what a difference it makes to some people. Theres one lad who had a disorder that made him quite violent, when he was with animals, the difference in him was huge, and now he works for one of the stables in Doncaster looking after the horses, and he loves it. made a real difference to his life, he occasionally has the odd violent spell, but him working with the horses has made a real difference.
Anyway, glad your closer to your pup lotti, good luck with it, you deserve it :)
Joel
PIF_Tails 03-08-2005, 21:24 Awww, what wonderfully cute pictures of spotty puppies :D
Cool pup Lottie, you look smitten
Oh yes! She looks like just the sort of pup to eat lots of shoes :D
Thanks all!
I am feeling the excitement today - I have had to go out and buy for her  I'm going to be skint by the time she comes home with us!
So far (despite not having the pup for another 3.5 weeks (but that's all - just 3.5 weeks!!!!!) I've got a bed, a box full of toys (nylabones, soft toy, cuz toy, kong toys, frisbees...) food bowls (generously donated by Savbaby) and a collar and lead!
I really must stop buying for now...
Thanks to all of you and thankyou Miniminch, I am giving you the benefit of the doubt despite being slightly confused as to how you actually feel - but thanks for the contribution! But I won't force you to watch the clips or look at the pictures - I won't be offended if you don't!
Tony - she has plenty of chew toys here already and I'm hoping I can divert her attention to them. We have a shoe cupboard where all the shoes are kept and all of mine are upstairs in my room (where she's not allowed :( ) so she shouldn't be able to chew too many shoes :P
I'm hoping not anyway! I have some old shoes/slippers that she can have if she really wants but I'm not convinced they'd be safe to chew on!
Anyway - 3.5 weeks til she comes home with me, then another couple of weeks of vaccinations and then the next meet we have in a dog friendly area - we'll be there! So you can all come and fuss!
I'm just writing down all the training we're going to do and I have a few appointments to go and watch training classes before she comes home!
Will keep you updated as soon as I have more pictures or when I go again (I would like to go again but we almost died when I had to drive on the motorway and cut someone up when dad went 'oh! you need to be in the right hand lane now to turn off! Go over there!'
I wasn't keen on the country roads either (I drove down the edge of a bank) I'm so obviously a city girl!

Don't! You'll confuse her! She won't know the difference between old shoes and ones you still want. After all - they all smell of you ;)
I thought that, I wasn't sure though, if it would be just as difficult to distinguish toys from things she wasn't allowed.
But don't worry - I won't give her them anyway - put it this way, they're a bit... well not very nice! I wouldn't want to chew them!
Dogs don't really know what 'shoes' are though. They just see a nice mouth sized thing that they can get their teeth into. So it goes for lots of things. Don't leave 'em in reach because she will really like all these presents that you leave out for her :D
how cute is that doggie in your arms? I am jealous.
Yesterday I saw a woman and her young son going for a wlak with their young dalmation. From the looks of it might be an idea to get some wheels fixed to your pink walking boots in preparation for the drag along.
hehe! I know thanks Tony!
Samc! I know, they are strong dogs with a strong will!
I will cope, they are extremely intelligent (though often get mistaken for being stupid - because they get bored easily) and if taught well when young, won't (or shouldn't) pull when they are big enough to pull you over!
I am hoping to spend a lot of time with her in the early days teaching her not to pull and teaching her how to walk to heel that way, when it comes to it, I won't give myself a hernia taking her for a walk!
I am extremely excited now but am stupid and have spent too much money so now I can't afford to travel to go and see her :(
I would just like to let people know that Miniminch/Sonofman has messaged me to apologise profusely for their conduct on the thread.
He said that he didn't realise how much it meant to me and it was all really just a practical joke that he took too far.
He also said that he didn't mind me telling everyone publicly that he has apologised so here I am.
I have let this matter rest now because as far as I see it, he has apologised for his conduct, explained himself and wished me all the best for the future.
So, please don't think bad of him now, I don't like the idea of people thinking badly of others, it causes grudges to be held and then arguments get out on threads that shouldn't! (StarSparkle and JBee!)
Thanks for everyone's support and encouragement! I'm off now to get some lunch and tidy up as I am still in my pyjamas moping about the fact I can't find a job!
Lottie
slimsid2000 04-08-2005, 14:21 Lotti, I thought you might like this (http://www.dalmatianrescue.com/images/pet-of-Month/Austin_Blake/PICT0126.JPG) picture.
KATIEB_23 04-08-2005, 17:19 Wow! They are all sooo gorgeous!
I'm very excited for you, and glad you're feeling better.
I completely missed the comment by minimilch as I only found your thread today & it had already been pulled, so have just read through the aftermath not having a clue what started it off, which was very confusing!
I don't want to go on as I understand it's all water under the bridge now, I just wanted to say (like so many other people on this thread) that I am VERY interested in all the updates on your doggie situation (I'm doggie mad too & very excited for you!) and PLEASE don't feel discouraged about writing all about it, as anyone not interested has the choice just not to read this thread!
hi all!
Right, I managed to find myself a very unstable, yet, it is after all, a job!
Basically a temporary job as in last Friday to the end of last Friday.
But I have left my number in case I am needed again. I was basically just covering for the receptionist, so if anybody else needs that doing, I am very good at it now! Done it a few times! I adapt quickly once told what I am doing! lol
That means, I now have enough money (and the fact I've just won a tenner on the lottery!) to go and see her and I think a lot of the time, we will go in my dad's pap pap so that is good - his petrol not mine!
Don't know if I told you this (as I'm on several different forums!) but her hearing test is next week etiher friday or saturday so please keep fingers crossed for results to come back 'normal'
Thanks for watching the thread!
Lottie
right! I'm back!
2 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to see my puppy on Saturday! Mucho looking forward to it, Dad is going to drop me off in the morning and pick me up later! My sister is coming with me because she has a camcorder that takes photos as well so she can take the photos and use the camcorder while I'm playing with her. I hate using cameras when I'm doing something!
If she wants to play/hold (which she says she doesn't - but she will) then I will use camcorder!
Hearing test on Friday so keep your fingers and toes crossed for her that she's all ok!
Lottie xx

Now first,
I've not definitely got her yet, I decide for sure in 2 weeks time when I go to see them again to make sure that her eyes turn brown.
