Im seriously considering taking 6 months - a year out and going to work abroad somewhere nice and sunny

Has anyone ever done this? I just want to go abroad get a bar job, rent an apartment and just get away from it all for a while, more than anything just to say that i have done it.

If i were to go somewhere like Ibiza or Portugal how easy is it to find work and somewhere to kip? are the bar jobs as badly paid for a silly number of hours as i imagine they are?

Any advice would be appreciated

Having been abroad quite a lot over the years esp in the med you tend to see alot of young brits in barsete.Last year in grand canaria spoke to a few brits and to be honest they said it was terrible pay for long hours. In my opinion you would need a decent amount of cash with you as a fall back, also be carefull not to get sucked in to any dodgy dealings.Good luck anyway

Depends what you fancy doing. My sister is in a trade that allows her to travel, she's on a 9 month contract in Spain getting better pay and conditions than she would over here. She gets her jobs through agencies before she goes though she she knows she has work.

I've had friends spend the summer months doing bar work / cleaning and they had tons of fun but come back skint and kanckered but better for the experience and the majority have come back with a boyf who they have stuck with.
