I would definately avoid the Folkestone Road area, this is closest to the railway station but mostly takes refugees.
each year the b&b situation seems to get more run down spreading out from Folkestone rd as owners are tempted to take the easy 'regular' money this situation provides.
I only use hotels in dover when i have to stay there now, although some pub hotels are fine.
It is a busy time now Hoegarden but don't be tempted to stay on Folkestone rd. (you can usually find a room there when every where else is full)
sorry i can't recommend any, as i say it gets worse each year and i have'nt stayed for a couple of years.
If you get there and have'nt pre-booked ask a taxi driver they are pretty clued up about the best places.

i was thinking about folkestone rd as there seemed to be a few - but in the end i decided to go straight to london and stayed there the night instead (had to be there early in morning anyway) . payed far too much (75) for a not very nice place at all near victoria... was a real rip off IMO. for future refernce - if anyone could let me know of any good value stop over places in central london - id appreciate it!
