I can't see us winning. The first team is great but the depth in the squad outside the midfield is lacking. We've only got two world-class centre-backs, one of whom appears to have forgotten how to defend, and we've only got one world-class striker, who is injury prone and has a bad temper and a history of being sent off. We can't possibly hope to beat the likes of Spain and Italy without Rooney, we don't have a consistent keeper, Ferdinand seems to have been dropped on his head at some point recently, Gerrard is injured every other week and we don't have sufficient backup of the right standard to cover if we lose those players.

I'm not getting my hopes up...again! England are the most disappointing football team in the world! including league clubs. On paper we should walk over any team put in front of us, we have a mass of world class players (many of which are supposedly the best in the world in their positions) but put them together and you get something beautifully unpredictable!

One thing they aren't however is boring but we will not win the next work cup! I hope i'm wrong but i fear i am right.

Having lived through 11 world cups, I know only too well the bitter taste of disappointment which arises from following England. I was too young to remember the 66 tourney. :(

No doubt this one will be the same, a lacklustre start followed by a promising performance or two to raise our hopes. Then defeat in the quarters on penalties.

I fancy Spain to assert their dominance and add the world championship to their European title.
