View Full Version : First class post
deanprez 19-10-2009, 13:59 Ordered an item off an internet site .....(only a game for the young un before you start :) )
and it was posted via 1st class on the 5th of October.
It finally arrived at 12.05 on Saturday 17th !!
White jiffy bag....name and address as clear as day.
It's just a monumental thank you to those fine athletes at the Royal Mail.
Much appreciated !! lol
alex3659 19-10-2009, 14:03 The postal system is shocking, I sent something first class on september the 8th it never arrived and cost me £18.50 for late payment.
Why are you surprised ! while the press are jumping up and down and screeming at the national postal strike which occurs this thursday/ friday (think theres another thread on here about it) there as been official industrial action at various places around the country in deed think there were 23 seperate actions at one stage
muckymurphy 19-10-2009, 14:47 your item actually arrived? shock horror! i posted five items i sold on ebay last xmas one arrived crushed, three never arrived and the other i dont know what happened to it. bye eck you were lucky!
muckymurphy 19-10-2009, 14:57 three million unemployed -they should sack the lot and get someone who can deliver am not pm. the "royal" mail has been a shambles for years now and its time it had a kick up the back side. the high cost of posting a letter does not warrant such a poor service. the post used to cost a penny and was delivered five times per day back in 1840.
they have produced a complicated range of costs for different letter sizes. why dont they charge less for cards and letters and more for junk mail.
if this goes on, i am going to start breeding carrier pigeons again, at least it will be same day delivery.
Yep. I've got a mail order store and I'm majorly having problems. Especially when people order thinking they'll get it in two days...
Right now, it's taking anything from three to ten days.
don't you all see? this is where the current management is taking the business to! what do think the strikes are about?
the posties are certainly not happy providing a service like this!

at least you received your package, the amount of stuff ive ordered that's "gone missing" in the past 2 months is unbelieveble

so you as a customer are happy with this 'modern' new service are you? because you can quite clearly see just on this thread lots aren't!

Angilaruk 19-10-2009, 17:59 Don't get me started on first class post!!
We bought a mobile on ebay, which was sent fist class recorded on the 9th. According to Royal Mails website, the parcel is still in progress. When I went through the process of trying to clarify it, they states we have to wait 15 working days before the item is considered late/lost!!!
alex3659 19-10-2009, 18:10 Royal mail used to be so reliable and you could depend on them.
It's in a right mess now.

alex3659 19-10-2009, 18:31 All people would likefrom the post is,
Reliability,
Early delivery.
Not hard is it?
They had it cracked for decades, why mend something that was not broken?

Early post cost too much money for Royal mail, so in their constant cost-cutting drive, deliveries got later.
Royal mail bosses excuse was that only businesses cared about early post, and they now helpfully charge them £3000+ per year to get mail before 9am.
This is one the of the reasons why postmen are striking.
