At the weekend I acquired my late grandfather's Settimio Soprani piano accordion which, according to the case, was purchased from Milners at 30 Pinstone Street. Does anyone have any information about this shop, such as when it first opened and when it finally closed? Does anybody remember the shop?

Thanks in advance.

I can remember their shop being on Howard St,it was using an old Pub because in the doorway in mosaic was the words Black Bull. That was in the sixties but I cannot remember it being on Pinstone St.

HI, I remember Milners on Pinstone st. l think it was just past Bray Bros before the war, and later It was on London rd, right at the bott; opposite Asline rd there was a grand piano in the window, this info; is as l think but could be wrong of course, do you recall Bray Bros l think everyone went there for ties at that time, Cheers Arthur.

Thank you for the information; with Milners only being on Pinstone Street before the war that's helped me put a rough date on the instrument (and one that would fit as he started playing in the early 30s).

With regards to Bray Bro's, that's way before my time. :)

Thanks again!

Hi, I can confirm that Milners music shop was on Howard Street during the 60s. They used to do piano accordian repairs. I baught a 2nd hand harmony guitar from them about 1969.

My Dad bought a pair of pickups from there in the mid 60s when it was on Howard Street. He was hand building an electric guitar and it was the only place in Sheff that you could get them from. Great little pokey old shop that had a lovely distinctive musty smell.

Thanks Frank. Seems Milners has moved around a bit. There is a picture of the label in my album. Wonder if it was the same gentleman. This info was also brought to my attention. Maybe he worked from home?
