We dont get scared easy so can anyone think of a good film.
Please dont anyone say freddy and he scares me <removed> and i wouldnt even have a film in his house.
Cheers
spindrift 16-10-2009, 11:28 Martyrs is out on DVD. An incredible, deeply disturbing film.
Let The Right One In is funny and sweet.
House of a thousand corpses, it's the only one that freaks me out, at the begining you think you know where it's going but you don't. it's very unpredictable and creepy! and by Rob Zombie who is great.

Seconded - and I'd say also, if you can get hold of it, the Devil's Rejects which is the sequel.
The reason they're so good is because they're made by a true horror movie fan, so he knows what other horror fans will like.

Is that the house formerly known as the House of Flying Daggers? ;)
"Carrie" is an oldie but a goodie. If you want truly disturbing horror, try "Eraserhead".
Although if it's a girly night in, maybe not, women apparently really don't like that film.
melthebell 16-10-2009, 16:59 the wickerman, american werewolf in london, omen, exorcist
all those old classics :P
newer ones
devils rejects, borderland
Fibutton 16-10-2009, 17:01 It's an oldie now, but as i've said before on here, it always freaks me out ...
Candyman, Candyman.......no i daren't say it 3 times - arghh !

I'll second that. A little too disturbing for a fright night. ;)
If you don't mind subs, REC is one of the best horrors I've seen in a long time.
Drag Me To Hell is a great film too and is quite 'fun'.
(Failing that just PM your address to some of the odder characters on SF and I'm sure they'll oblige).

The French director wrote it in a bout of depression. It is an unforgettable experience, but a film best viewed with few preconceptions.

are you serious? funny in parts yes but a horror? no way, worth 'horror' film ive seen....ever
The best of the latest British horror films is mum and dad which is sick, gory, and very disturbing but not really a jumpy film and what makes it even more disturbing is that it could really happen and things like it have happened.

Okay, it's more comedy than horror, though the chin sucking scene was disturbing. ;)
I've watched a couple of duffs this week: The Orphan I had high hopes for and was a bit let down, though certainly not a bad film. Trick r Treat was just plain dire.

. . . and when a few more have seen it, we can have the inevitable 'what did she whisper?' conversation.

:hihi: the chin sucking scene was the best part of the movie, i watched orphan last week aswel, wasnt as good as i hoped but still a decent movie
bye a full length mirror and stare in it.film it on your silly mobile . it will be a bestseller.
I love movies which are "spookily" scary, (is the word Im looking for, psychologically???) hehehe, as opposed to machetes and chain-saws cutting people up.
Anyone know any film/s that scare the bejeesus out of ya, without any teenagers getting hacked??? ;)

The Devils Backbone. Visually it's stunning, psychologically it's not up there with 'Don't Look Now', but it's near. It oozes class, like most del Toro films do.
Personally, the greatest psychological horror film made has to be a Hitchock, most obviously 'Psycho'. Though Les Diabolique (The Devils) comes close.
