View Full Version : AVG errors when loading Sheffield forum
missymoo73 14-10-2009, 20:12 Hello
Wonder if anyone can help. My AVG as suddenly decided it wants to block Sheff Forum and just wondered if anyone knows the reason why?
Never had any problems in the past with it, its justed started today.
If i press the back button it will let me in but if i use my bookmark key on firefox the AVG blocks it. Is it trying to tell me that one of the links on here is corrupt?????
Any ideas will be much appreciated.
missymoo73 14-10-2009, 20:13 Just thought I would add its the paid version on the AVG 8.5 and it is set to update daily and run a test every morning.
swarfendor43 14-10-2009, 20:18 It is possible that Bookmarks can be hacked into and AVG has found something.
Have you tried typing in the address manually? Try another browser - either Opera (http://www.opera.com/) or Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/) for Windows.
Yeah i'm getting this too,
from a few IP's, seems to be yeildmanager.com though. (the ad provider)

If you can work out which ad is causing your AV to trigger then please let me know by email and I'll make sure that the gaffer asks the ad agency to remove it from the forum.

This happened twice to me tonight.
Greengeek 15-10-2009, 09:38 It's worth visiting the AVG website, and upgrading your licence key.
AVG 9 is out, and has been re-written from the ground up. Won't cost you a penny.

This is what I was worried about,as mine is a free AVG ,and they sometimes ask me to upgrade it to a paying AVG one. They have a new ID Protection shield on the AVG site to tick, to activate, but dont know whether I have to pay or not for it.
im at work and i have to refresh the page in order to get SF up- only started this week though.
Greengeek 15-10-2009, 12:58 It is definatly worth having the full package of AVG.
The ID Protection is worth it alone, although you can buy that seperately.
The ID protection monitors files to see if they behave like viruses. Kind of like advanced Heuristics.
missymoo73 15-10-2009, 14:33 The computer at home is ok just had one occasion at work not that I go on the forum much at work *erm erm
