I attended the Sheffield City Teacher Training College in Collegiate Crescent in the 1960s.
I played many sports on their playing fields which, I am ashamed to say, I cannot remember the name of or its precise location.
I recall taking the bus along Eccleshall Road from Broomgrove Road where my hostel was to somewhere in the vicinity of Bramhall Lane, changing buses and travelling for a few more minutes to the fields.
I would be very grateful if anyone can enlighten me.
Thanks,
Mike

Could it be the University sports ground, here on Warminster road? (well, opposite here!)

It may have been - Graves Park [nearby] rings a bell.
Thanks.

You may be thinking of the fields up in the Graves Park area of Warminster Road. As a kid attending Heeley Bank Sch we played all of our games there including cricket. It worked for us - especially as there was a great sweet and drink shop at the bus terminus across the road just outside Graves Park.

My junior school used to hold its sports days on there, as we were an inner city school, and we had no green space on which we could hold the event.

The headmaster used to hire a fleet of buses from SYT (as was, back in the 1970s) and the teachers used to escort us up there, on the buses, for the day.

What was SYT please?

What was SYT please?

beg your pardon:- it was South Yorkshire Transport, the forerunner of Mainline/ First, which came into being in 1974. it had a distinctive biscuit-and-cream livery.
