View Full Version : Would you remain in sheffield if you had won the 77million euro lotto
naughtyelf 29-07-2005, 22:51 hi all
i see some lucky person in irelands won the 77m euro millions lotto game.
if you won would you stay in sheffield how would you spend it would you help less better off sheffield people with it ?
and just how much could you spend in a day at medowhall ?
Birth-Peace 29-07-2005, 23:40 I would definitely stay in Sheffield. x
Its a great place.
Might buy a few holiday homes here and there though :-)
I'd be based in Sheff. I'd probably uni round the country, get a hitman to kill Warnock and by soem expensive foreign poser to run our midfield.
rothschild 30-07-2005, 00:45 I would stop in Sheffield cos all the family are here. BUT......I would have a great time visiting all over the place as well. With that amount of money I would have a whale of a time helping many many other people. It would be just too easy to let it all go to your head and end up in serious bother.
I think that first of all we would kick our jobs into touch and go on a long and relaxing holiday while we made plans for our future. Then we would come home and book ourselves into a health farm for the next 6 months!! Then we would have to seriously address the structure of our future lives. Without a purpose in life to make you get out of bed you would just die! What a waste of all that money that would be eh? In fact I think that I would ignore about 70 million of it and just concentrate on sharing out the 7 million.
Mmmmmm......that amount of money is totally obscene! On careful consideration I think it would just blow my head off and I do not really want my life to alter that much anyhow. All we really want is to get rid of our mortgage and that of our kids. They can keep on working but with the knowledge that if they ran into any unforseen financial troubles they could turn to us. We would love to take early retirement and have enough money to be comfortable........and get Hubby a big motor home. We do have and subscribe allready to a couple of favourite causes so they would naturally benefit in the event of us winning such huge amounts of money. But I feel it is important to still have a reason to get up with the alarm clock on a daily basis. Would I really want to win such a huge amount of money?? No.........or perhaps yes......oh eck....thank goodness I don't have that problem!
scaramanga 30-07-2005, 00:53 Id built GIANT castle right in the city centre made out of gum drops.
I too stop in sheffield.but would get holliday homes arround the world to visit or stop in time to time.
Agent Orange 30-07-2005, 06:15 Just checked my ticket and I haven't won the jackpot. Oh well, keep on dreaming I suppose. Anyway, back to the question. If I had won the 70 odd million I would imagine that it wouldn't be long before I moved away from here. Maybe spending about a year or two travelling around the world while picking up various holiday homes as I go. I would probably return to Sheffield (eventually) and maybe get myself a hobby i.e. build myself a massive skyscraper in the middle of Sheffield and call it Dastardly Tower. Oh, and maybe buy what is left of Sheffield Airport and park my private plane there. Oops, it appears that I've gone into my Euro Millions Overdraft :)
No way. Nothing against Sheffield in particular (it my home town and I love it) but get me out of this country as soon as possible!!
Euro Lottery (http://www.lottery.co.uk/Default.asp) website is saying the next jackpot could be £113,000,000 million its a big jump in prize money if it is. which is old news now because the lottery was won by someone in Ireland

Ousetunes 30-07-2005, 07:59 I'd write a cheque out to the Inland Revenue with a note attached saying 'Surely, I don't owe you anything now'.
Chances are, a bill for £78million would land on my doormat the following day.
Believe me, it just seems to work that way.
As for stopping in Sheffield. I very much doubt it.
I'd definitely stay local.. Not entirely sure what I'd do with that kind of money though apart from buying a few bits I've always wanted, paying Dad's mortgage off for him etc..
I suppose what I'd spend maybe a Million on would be a residential support and care centre for disabled youngsters and adults, being disabled myself and the fact that there's very little in this City in the way of respite facilities etc.
I'd stay here. I'd buy a big house in one of the posh bits :D

A house in Eccleshall or Whirlow then?
DaBouncer 30-07-2005, 09:42 I got a text this morning from the National Lottery saying "We've got some exciting news about the ticket you purchased" :o
I was like.... YES YES YES LET IT BE ME.
£7.50 win..... DANG!
Better than a loss I suppose :P
There'd be no way I'd stay here permanently, as I'd want my mansion by the sea, so unless I could pay for the sea to be brought here... But I'd keep my house, that's if I hadn't had it moved to my new mansion to use as an ashtray. :hihi:
squeakyclean 30-07-2005, 14:49 Hmmm , not sure on this one, I would probably buy a house just outside Sheffield in the countryside so the shops etc are still accessible plus another house in Florida or 2 or 3 oh and 1 in Spain and 1 in France. I think thats it.
I'd do up my house in the most eco-friendly way I could. Pay off my friends' and families' mortgages and go around the world twice. and go to the Poles too. Then I'd return here, buy as much land as I could and set up a foundation that taught people the old ways of the countryside and how to live in harmony with nature. It'd become so popular that the council would listen and respect the views of those taking part and change policies accordingly. Then, after Sheffield had gone completely green, it would become a mecca for like-minded folk, stimulating the green economy here in sheffield and feed outwards to the rest of the country. Finally, Westminster would see how it was here and immediately change its ways, turn Britain into a global centre for research into sustainability and feed out to the entire world.
Then I'd wake up at 7.30 am I guess.
Have a nice day y'all
youwhatref 30-07-2005, 15:32 Like squeekyclean. Big house with pool, snooker room 8 bar, own cinema on outskirts of Sheffield with large homes in Florida (near Disney), one in Spain and maybe the Far East. Also have a nice chairmans office at SWFC maybe!! :D
Hmmm I'd probably keep my main residence in Sheffield but probably in a quieter area with plenty of garden.
I'd love to have a second home in Spain though, somewhere quiet with a pool.
I've got a list of people who, over the years, have been good friends. Those on the list (including family) would get a cheque, the amount depending upon how good a friend they have been.
I'd also love to set up my own little business and employ people who ordinarily don't get a chance of a job. That's all really.
Theres no chance I'd stay here!!. . . I love Sheffield but if I won that much money I'd be straight off - around the world - living it up in every single country for a few months.
I'd give Wednesday £10 million to help them with debts etc, give at least £10 to charity then I'd be off and away!!
I'd still log onto SF though and tell you where I am.
I'd buy an island somewhere tropical and have an army of scantily clad nubile young women to attend to my every need :heyhey:
summer en provence, winter in aspen.
Rest of the time in or around sheffield.

Sounds like my kind of heaven
Just for the record, I would buy a caravan and a Moggie 1000 and trundle around the Peak District at 15MPH, just the same as all the other sad bug gers in the summer :D

And no doubt be splattered by Naz in one of his suped up Ladas :D
ya'd have every lowlife after it..
I cant even try to think what id do with that amount of money...
all the good charities id like to give to etc:
How many of my so called x-mates and family would crawl out of the woodworks..?
Here is a list of who i WOULD GIVE MONEY:
SHEFFIELDS CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, RSPCA, PDSA, OXFAM, SAVE THE CHILDREN, HIV and AIDS CHARITYS, Cancer Research:
AND MANY MORE:
I could not keep all that money to myself, id have to do some good with it, and yes i would stay in sheffield my home will always be sheffield.
And of course if i ever did win a cool 77million on the lotto id buy all my forum family members a pint or 2..:P

I would have 'a' place in Sheffield, or rather in The Sheffield area, maybe somewhere like Cowley (out past Holmsfield) or Millthorpe.
Don't think I'd spend much time in the UK though, I'd have thought that I'd relocate to Beverly Hills.
I'd use some of the cash to invest in setting up my own porn production company and audition applicants myself :)
What a life :)
No chance I'd stay in this craphole.
Probably pay for it to be bombed.
I'd leave this country and never come back.
Definately the snooker room/bar (add a table tennis table and dart board for good measure) in the house, i like that idea. Gotta be in Sheffield, then a few more homes abroad. And with 77m, i could actually afford a Blades season ticket.

For £77m you could afford the Blades and still have £70 odd million left :D

How did i know this was coming!! hehe
But your right i would, and with £3 million interest every year, i'd be happy to put lots of money in, as long as it wasn't a 'blackburn' or 'chelsea' who basically bought the premiership title. And i'd subsidise the pricing so fans could afford to go!! At least Hillsbro trys to attract younger fans, they'll always have more fans for this reason if nothing else.
(sorry topic maker, ive strayed off the subject)
MissGobby 03-08-2005, 12:33 id defo stay in Sheffield but would build my own home :P, and obviously stay in sheffield with that much money due to Meadowhall lol,i would go everyday and try to spend the most i could....**daydreams......mmmmmmm all those expensive designer gear, jewellry, make-up, shoooooooooes, mmmmmmmm** pfff we can only keep dreamin ehh guys?!
Captain_Scarlet 03-08-2005, 13:16 Would you remain in sheffield if you had won the 77million euro lottoI'd buy about 10 adjoining terrassed houses and make meself a mutha of a house. And since I'm a computer geek I'd have loads of useless networkable devices dotted around the house(s)
one or two of them houses would be self contained guest houses. I'd transform one or two front rooms into garages.
It'd be the bomb ;)

I would leave the UK.
I would want to live somewhere near the sea and with amazing walks and nature/ good weather/low crime rate/ happy people/ good culture. A little island would be lovely for my little family. Calmness and peace would be great as I'd have too much dosh to ever spend.
I actually found the amount offered in the lottery obscene. Surely £10 million is more than ample?
dinkdankdo10 03-08-2005, 13:33 id designa dn build my own house !!!! in loads of space, near bradfield probably !!! give wednesday some money, start own business that when i wanted i would work for but other times id put my feet up and chill, just like winston !
I'd buy a villa in spain to retire early too and I'd also give £8m to the Niger charity appeal to get them sorted out.
if i won 77m i would be off around the world for a year or so but i would come back it is the best city in sheffield
oh and i couldnt spend any money at meadowhall i hate the place:gag:
JonJParr 03-08-2005, 14:43 I wouldn't remain in Sheffield if I won the 77m euro lottery. I would probably buy an apartment in Rome and move to live out there. The apartment would be close to the Piazza Navona, Pantheon and Trevi fountain. I would devote my time to pursuing cultural activities; visiting the Vatican, buying art, eating and cooking fantastic food, drinking bottles of Barolo and shopping on the Via Condotti.
My day would consist of an early-ish breakfast, a couple of shots of Illy from Galleria (on the Via del Corso), perhaps a bit of shopping, lunch and then a siesta. In the evening I'd have early evening cocktails at Salotto42 (in the Piazza Di Pietra) and then dinner at a great restaurant. Finish the day off by sitting in a piazza drinking wine and soaking up the atmosphere.
Could life get any better than that? How I would love to have a lifestyle like that!
ReginaldD 03-08-2005, 21:51 I'd defintly stay close but further near peak district so there would be better places to walk my dog. There are plenty of worse places than Sheffield. Sometimes it does my head in but if you had all that money, you have loads of holiday homes when you wanted to escape. I'd have a place in the south of france and go over every month. if i won that much i'd probably give about 20 million to Wednesday to pay debts.
