Does anyone know if a cheap T Mobile handset from Morrisons, tesco etc will take an O2 sim card without having to mess around having it unlocked.

Probably not. From my experience, mobiles bought with a certain service provider included usually need to be unlocked.

It's only a £5-£10 ten minute job to do though.

Tesco phones actually use the O2 network, so no unlocking needed with them. Unless things have changed since I bought mine.....
