Im getting married next year in a field with a marquee. i need to run the disco and lights, the toilet block, the catering tent, refrigerated van (for all the booze) and lights... I need a diesel generator, has anyone done this and what size generator would i need. i have spoken to 3 different generator places and all 3 have given me different answers... Anyone got any expertise on this??

About 10KVA should cover that, so 15/20KVA to be safe. Try to find a silent one as it will make a racket. I would also look for some space heaters for the marquee.

Also check with your caterers how much power they require and for how long then check with the generator supplier how much fuel this is likely to need and if you'll need any extra to whats in the tanks. You shouldn't but it's best to check just in case.
