While all my friends' babies fall asleep almost as soon as the engine starts, my 5-month-old baby usually cries and screams the whole journey since he was born, which is really heart wrenching. :(
The only thing I can think of is that his head gets really hot against the feelcy fabrics, however, it does not get better as the weather gets colder.
He's not cold, hungry, tired, sick, uncomfortable with the straps, nor has a wet nappy... He just simply hates to be in the car. We have a maxi cosi which is quite popular amonst the parents.
Can someone help me?
Appreciate it!

My DS HATED his car seat for his 1st year. Would scream when in it, and certainly would take a huge amount of effort on our part for him to fall asleep.
I too got really annoyed when many of my friends had babies who would simply fall asleep the minute that the car started going, felt really sorry for my little baby.
I did come across the odd person here or there who had similar difficulties. No advice I'm afraid, just understanding and support. I do hope it gets better for you guys. Can you get out on the bus instead for many things? I'd choose that alternative if possible.

which way is the seat my boy has screamed from being 4 month hes now 7 just turned 1 of the seats round and hes happy as larry in that 1 but not the 2 that are still rear facing hope that helps
The baby carseats have them sat quite crumpled up and not straight, so your baby might not like the feeling of being crumpled up. Or is it just when the car moves? It could be motion sickness or the feeling of going backwards?

My son cried and cried in his car seat until we switched to forward facing :( I understand how fruastrating it is, especially when it comes to stopping at traffic lights and the screams seem to get worse. It was just a case of me putting up with it and going out in the car when we had to. Sorry, i hope he starts to enjoy his car journeys soon x

I tried to take the infant head support (+the wedge that makes the baby higher in the carseat) out and it made all the difference. I am not sure if one is supposed to do that though...
Hi, I think you should be fine to take the head support away - at 5 months your little one should be more than capable of supporting the head without it. I don't have a Maxi Cosy so can't comment on the wedge as our seat didn't have one.
Our youngest is now 10 months and has just moved into a "grown up" car seat as she was completely squashed with feet halfway up the seat in her baby seat. She absolutely loves being able to see and has spent the last few journeys playing "boo" with her older brother!
Hope your car journeys become more peaceful very soon.
