gave my dogs there breakfast today and no sooner had tia eaten it about 10 mins later she threw it back up but then eat it again as i went to get the cleaning things and bags why did she do this?very bizzare:loopy:

My labs do that all the time. Rolo the 1year old gulps his food down so quick and within a few minutes he throws ups in a big pile and no quicker than throwing up does he eat it. It made me feel ill the first few times but I sat at the side of him when he ate and slowed him down and he seems to have stopped the last few times he has had tea. His eye still water though so he is still eating to quick. Hope this helps x

Some people suggest having the bowls raised slighty as they believe this slows the eating. D mainly has proper meat and chicken carcass so he has to chew otherwise he chokes!

I feed him outside and he takes it out of his bowl and takes the bones up the garden to eat on the grass, he seems to enjoy himself, takes about 5 mins to eat a whole carcass but he has to tear it to eat, chcken pieces were a bit too tempting for him to try and eat in one gulp :lol:

Whilst it can be quite common if she's never done this before keep an eye on her. Did she eat it quicker than usual?

There's probably nothing to worry about as this can be quite common but just keep an eye out for any signs she's nauseous or feeling poorly.

If it's something that occurs regularly you can get moulded bowls with lumps in the bottom (or put large stones in the bowl IF dogs won't try to eat them) which slows them down.

no she dident eat any fast she never wolfes it down, the only thing with her is being a lab she will non stop eat if allowed to so she only has 1 hand full of food a day,but for some reason she just threw it up, took the girls down riveling today and after 20 mins or so she was walkign like an old lady, which she dosent realy do she just looked very depressed, at min shes sleeping so i gave her her pain meds and hope she cheers up just got a bit worried about her cheersx

Hopefully it's nothing, perhaps her legs are just giving her gip so she's feeling old? (I get like that!)

Just keep an eye on her but if you're still worried by Tuesday or if she's worsened by tomorrow get her looked at. If she's still eating ok I wouldn't have thought it was serious - Eddy doesn't always do it, but went through a period where he did it quite regularly...

Takara is, apparently far too ladylike to eat her own vomit - she'll just demand more food...

I thought all dogs did this at times. When bitches do it isn't it called possetting and they do it when they're weaning pups to make it easier for them to eat? Or they instinctively gulp down as much as they can when there's other dogs around that might take the food, and then eat it at leisure somewhere else..

I'm probably wrong, as some of you girls seem to know more about dogs than most :)

natjack im sure thats more wild dog behavior shes never done this before, plus shes never ad pups in her life and shes spayed,

lottie after she had her meds she went to sleep and woke up much more perky and asking for more food lol,i think her legs get to her more these daysx

She probably just ate too fast and threw it back out, Pea has a tendency to do that she is a greedy guts, as an aside did you wait for a while after the walk before feeding her? after exercise their tummies can't take food or to much water.

yea there fed first thing at 7 and they dident go out untill 10 i always wait at least an hour becouse when she was younger i had to rush her to vets realy sick with that twisted stomach thing (forgot the name) vet said she could have died, my brother had fed her and not told me, and i took her out for a good run straight after when i came back from work i found her layed on floor crying in pain and her tummy was hughhhhhhhhhhhh, since then im very very careful and as its only me who caresfor them in the house now its easier lolxxx

:D Nah it is food, smells of food and you eat food simple as that, when mine does it usually it looks pretty much the same as it went in just slimier :hihi: I don't think it's true sick as such just that they ate to fast.

my dog does this often and when i had my kitten (up to ten months old, rip x) when he heard my dog being sick he would come running in like a maniac and join in with the eating of the sick !!! he could be anywhere and would make a mad dash for it ha ha when it was just a wretch noise and no sick came out kitty would just walk off all aloof as if saying ..."i will get it next time" ...he was crazy for the doggy up chuck !!! :loopy: :hihi:
