A dog I'm looking after has what looks like an inflamed lump in the corner of her eye. It's a bit inflamed and while I'm going to take her to the vets in the morning, I'm hoping it's nothing contageous.
Anyone know what it might be? It looks a bit like a stye, but it's under the surface of the white of the eye...
if you're at all worried, keep them separate, and carry out lots of hand washing, at least until you get the vet's verdict
If you need a crate, I have one you can borrow
She's not coming 'till tomorrow morning, and I'm taking her to the vets.
Thanks for the offer of a crate. We went around tonight and found it growing there. So I'm hoping the boys haven't picked up anything.
Just wondered if it was common...
Sounds like it could be cherry eye, which is inflamation of the tear duct. We had a cavalier with this and he had to have his tear duct removed which meant we had to put fake tears in daily. Cherry eye is a red blob in the corner.

Gemima you beat me to it , but nowadays i think the vets dont remove uless absolutley needed , i used to massarge my bulldogs back in ,staffy`s are prone to this aswell ,i would avoid giving her anything hard to chew as cheery eye is prone to happen when they chew hard on things. Ian taylor (spires vets chesterfield) is well up on cherry eye
and is recomended by the bulldog rescue
