It was really good and pulled a big crowd of shoppers who were all dancing and singing. It was a brill atmosphere. Ghostrider 09-10-2009, 15:07 I still remember their version of the jungle book song :hihi: lakerman 09-10-2009, 15:14 The band are still going, albeit with a couple of of different faces from the original. deedar 09-10-2009, 15:15 Last I heard, the saxophonist and bass player from the Sharp Cuts were working with Paul Carrack. medusa 09-10-2009, 15:22 I think that you may be thinking of "The Sharp Cuts" If so, the singer is a member on here.... He's no longer with them, which is why his username has changed to reflect his new project ;) mh01 09-10-2009, 17:27 I once saw them doing a gig in the Hole in the road just after they had been on the tele(can't remember which show). (no not a wino, lol) pinkgirl 13-10-2009, 02:20 I saw them at the sheffield university student union when I was young lol- good times:) Leipzig 13-10-2009, 09:27 If my memory sevres me correctly, they appeared on the TV talent show NEW FACES, which was presented by Marti Caine. They finished their act with J Wood jumping onto his double bass. I remember that there was a comment from the judging panel (Nina Myskow?), that the band's hair looked like polystyrene - which it did. :hihi: Steptoad 13-10-2009, 10:38 They were a fantastic raw rockabilly band and I like several others who have posted on here used to stand and watch them on Saturdays. They still play, sadly they became a corporate function type band and their music now reflects that. Bass player Johnny Wood(s) went onto play with the Slingshots and now plays with Carmen Ghia And The Hot Rods. Sax player Ricky Bean went onto to play with international rockabilly favourite The Blue Devils and now DJs (I think he has a regular spot at the Washington). Guitarist Steve Delaney is the last original member in the current line-up of The Sharp Cuts. And singer (J) Michael Hydes was last seen, by me, trying to carve himself a solo career. Incidently The Slingshots and Carmen Ghia and the Hot Rods + The Houndogs are playing at the launch party for Carmen Ghia's new CD release at the BoardWalk on the 7th November. dgennard 13-10-2009, 16:47 The Sharp Cuts are playing the University Common Room in December. mikey 08-03-2010, 12:47 Just found this on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxKQ6b9izKY Steptoad 08-03-2010, 16:01 There's also these amongst others http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWOZkaLo7vk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYLYujdZLjA and sadly this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3IO57Zn8V0 Davekowl 08-03-2010, 18:36 Well done Mikey and Steptoad.
