Hi All..
I need some good and nice books on wool knitting to send to my mom. She is not a beginner. She knows how to do knitting , so she is seeking for some good pattern books. It would be great if I can send some books to her as a present. But I am not sure where to buy and what to buy. Any help would be highly appreciated!!!
Cheers..
Are you in Sheffield? If so, there is The Wool Baa at Hunters Bar or you could also try John Lewis and Atkinsons. Hobbycraft if you really must. There's also Amazon or the likes. Good luck.
Thanks a lot on the information..
Even I had a look online.. But the thing I am not sure is which book to buy. Any titles of some all time favourite pattern books would be really useful..
Cheers

Rowan publish alot of quality patterns, they have been on the go for 30 years and their pattern designers are top notch. Most of their patterns can be found in John Lewis. Debbie Bliss is another excellent designer and her publications can be found in the Wool Baa. There are also the usual, but excellent Sirdar, Patons, King Cole and Wendy designs that can be found in the shops Wheezy mentioned above and also in Marilyn Matthews in Firth Park. I would recommend going to the shops to get "a feel" for what you are looking for. The yarn retailers in Sheffield will be able to offer you excellent advice so don't be afraid to take your time or ask for questions or help with your request.

What type of thing does she like to knit? Children's things, toys, adult cardis/jumpers, or smaller things like hats/gloves/scarves? Does she like lace knitting? Or socks? I often check out the reviews of books on Amazon. But most books tend to focus on one type of thing, so it really depends on what she enjoys knitting.
My most used book is probably "The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns" by Ann Budd, because it has basic patterns for socks, gloves, hats and tops, for all types of yarn and all sizes, which you can then adapt as you like. Its really useful! But its not really an exciting book.
