View Full Version : Horrible pet murder
Hello,
I posted a topic yesterday about my rabbit going missing from Wake Rd
http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=515267
I'm no longer in Sheffield but my old neighbours were looking after Wolfgang (the rabbit) until this weekend when my friend was coming to collect him to take him to his new home.
I found out this evening that my rabbit had not just escaped, he had been taken out of his run. His decapitated body was found down the street by a taxidermist. Obviously, she has a good knowldege of the anatomy of animals. She told us that my rabbit had not been killed by a cat, dog or fox - but by a HUMAN. His head has still not been found. It has obviously been done by somebody local - we think as part of a sick initiation into a gang maybe.
At the moment, I'm not sure how to feel - a mixture of shock, confusion, anger, sadness. I just can't believe that someone would do that to a defenseless pet rabbit.
If anyone has any information about this, please let me know. The police have been informed.
Also - other pet owners around Wake Rd/Nether Edge, please be aware and keep an eye on your pets and who is coming into your garden.
Thanks for reading.
RIP Wolfgang Amarabbit Mozart xxx
Its digusting. But Im not suprised by it..its happening too often.
Some neighbours of my auntie last year, they took their rabbit and set the dog on it.
And accross the road at the pub I used to work in (gleadless townend..) some kids, were swinging a cat with its legs against a car.
Its sick. I cant imagine what goes through these peoples heads.

SkyMaster92 02-10-2009, 19:41 and if you call the police and they come what happens oh yes a slap on the hand and a next time you will get a asbo ,then the mother finds out wh called them and your in for a mouth full ,and if your a pet lover and dont say anthing for days and weeks on end you carnt sleep wish you had said some thing
Yeah, I don't imagine the police will do anything, or could really. I just hope karma comes back on them 10 times worse.
My old neighbour is going to put some posters up in the area to warn other pet owners and hopefully it may cause some shame to the sickos. Although I don't think anyone that could do that would feel any shame at all.
mummysaz21 02-10-2009, 19:53 oh god thats shocking i sooooooo feel for you, i los tmy cat last year just mysteriously dissapered and shes chipped, id hate to think abotu itxr.i.p bunny wabbit
helenasq 02-10-2009, 19:55 Oh, I'm so sorry Rook. I can't begin to imagine how you're feeling. What terrible people there are, it's so sad. My thoughts are with you.
thats aweful but the police do need to know if it happens again to someone elses pet they may have some idea, the local bobby is very freindly he will want to know xxxx
It's not enough these days that we've got to cope with sickness and death of our beloved pets, but now we've got to deal with d!ckheads who think nothing of causing pain and suffering for all concerned.
I'm sure they actually think it's all highly amusing and fun - and give not a moment's thought to the suffering they're leaving in their wake.
Forget ASBOs, I can think of something else these people should be slapped with!
Don't get me started! I think I'd get a ban if I were to type what I really think on here.
Thanks for all your comments. I'm signing off for now - going to get a large glass of wine.
Moonbird 02-10-2009, 20:39 I also think that you should tell the police, at least let it be on record in case anything else happens like this in the area.

Yeah, the police have already been contacted. My neighbours are also going to put posters up in the area so people know what's happened. Might make a few guilty people feel quite ashamed too hopefully
The same thing happened to our two rabbits in our own garden back in 2002. It's not just happening in this country either, there was a report on Radio Four last year about it happening in Germany. I still get very angry and saddened when I think about our two lovely rabbits.

Good idea to alert people...BUT...

Unfortunately, I very much doubt that. I would more imagine that it would give the perpetrators a kick out of some idea of notoriety
Lady Star 03-10-2009, 10:30 Have you contacted the police? I recall a similar killing in Mansfield years ago, and the kid and his family were run out of the area they lived in - noone would serve em in the shops pubs anywhere - the whole town wouldn't have any dealings with them - know that town life is different to city life, but this sort of behaviour points to a mind that is out of control and who noone wants living next door to them...

belive it or not, you can legally kill a animal, as long as it doesnt suffer...its how lots of people, who kill cats, dogs etc get away with it, if its shown it died instantly, then there is no suffering.....seen it happen lots of time, some people are just scum..................
