I've recently been listening to Radio Sheffield a lot in the morning before work and I've noticed that lots of the topics on Antonia Briquell's (Sp?) are in immediate parallel to threads on SF but only AFTER they've been posted on here.
Now I'm thinking, either there's a research person who can't be bothered to do their job and just looks on here.
OR a research person who thinks this is a good way to test interest and perhaps begins posts to later put on the show.
Or some other intrigue.
One from this weeks topics 'what super power would you have if you could?'
Whaddya mean can't be bothered to do their Job?
This is a form of research and her name is 'Brickell'. No really this is one way to discover what is happening Sheffield -wise and what people in Sheffield are thinking about local issues...but I stress only ONE way.
It's only a conspiracy if they're talking about you without you knowing about it.
Peace

this shows the power of the forum, how many stories do you see in the star or on other media that have started on the forum, If radio sheffield and other local media are looking good on em at least they are trying to keep a finger on the pulse of the area, bettter than look leeds on the tv networks at 6.00pm,
We all know that Toby chps in with his comments from time to time and so I am sure do other station staff whos identities we do not know.
I am often amazed and impressed by just how fast threads can be answered or unraveled by other forumers, the recent incident at longley happend at about 6.45 pm the first thread on the forum is timed at 6.54 pm 9 minutes for a major incident to be shared around the city in which it happend, and beyond as we are all aware that some forumers are not in Sheffield. By 9pm the whole story had been un earthed on the forum.
In these difficult times for everyone sharing news at that speed could be usefull, maybee the BBBC, Sheffield star and other local media are on to a winner, 7 million forum members and only 3 t shirts left cant be wrong.
It's not a criticism of the use of news but rather a disappointment if original ideas cannot be thought of.
The power of SF is a curious thing ( :D ) and one I approve of. I'd like some diversity between radio and SF but I've been part of the package that makes media meet the SF on more than one occasion.
I just don't plagiarise ideas. Some original research would be nice rather than rehashed ideas from here. I read the super hero thread and was a little bored hearing the same ideas on the radio next morning. In that respect perhaps the researchers need to come up with something new.
The speed and complexity of news about bigger issues is impressive and a huge help, for that I would never change SF.
On the other hand, perhaps SF should be annotated with credit when the origin of the media article is so obvious.
And since I've never seen the presenters name in print, I made a guess, hence the (sp?)
Yesterday I had hallam fm on the radio I noticed the same thing. The D.J was talking about elvis in walkley, the thread on elvis has been kicking about for a week or so beforehand, it did cross my mind that he had read the thread and nicked bits of it to fill the time on his show

it may well be toby foster nicking the the threads for his show after all he his a member on this forum
I guess an acknowldegment would occasionally be nice... :)
But having worked with a number of radio presenters in the past it's unlikely. ;)

Whilst no t really wanting to get drawn into anything, I can assure you that on the odd occasion that I've used the forum as a source, I've always given credit.
Good on ya Toby. I only get chance to listen to Antonia due to work so I can only fairly comment on her prog.
:)
