alex3659 29-09-2009, 16:21 Depends which Palace turn up if the last few games are anything to go by.
Good luck Crysytal Palace.
MrMuscle 29-09-2009, 17:28 I think we could get a win tonight depends on Esajas being on form. I can see leon clarke getting a goal tonight. If we do get a win tonight I will be very happy because that would see us around about 7th-8th in the table.
I wish I was there. I like a Selhurst Park, it is a bit of a dump, but I like it. Hopefully we'll get a result.
MrMuscle 29-09-2009, 18:02 Does anyone know the line-ups?

We'll be unchanged most likely. Actually I presume Clarke will play. He was good last match.

I think Varney will play me, it's his last game tonight isnt it, he can't play against Derby at the weekend with them being his parent club, then his loan ends.

NERVY-OWL 29-09-2009, 19:33 not sure how we'll do, depends which wednesday turns up i suppose. they have had the better chances in the first 15mins, they should of had 2 at least by sounds of it
CorkerSWFC 29-09-2009, 21:19 Good result really, at 10pm on a Tuesday night im quite confident most teams would be happy with a point travelling down to the capital.
Some strange results around tonight again.

yea, i think most would of took a draw before it started. some very strange results, cardiff 6-1:o chopra got 4 and he's my captain on fantasy footie, just a shame most of the defenders let me down, especially killgallon:rant:

Titanic99 29-09-2009, 21:30 My young us has Chopra, unfortnately he dropped Purse earlier on.
A good point tonight, it sounds like we played ok and deserved it!

Yep, dodgy first 20 minutes but we settled and could have come away with all three points, but i only listened to it, we could have been awfull when you take into account the Sheffield bias from the commentator lol.

i listened to the first 15mins, didn't bother after that. i can't listen to games on the radio, makes me more nervous than if i'm there or watching on the tv
BigTeeOwls 29-09-2009, 21:40 1 point from selhurst park on a tuesday night (with warnose in charge)! Thats what i would have taken at the start of the season!

Yeah well Cardiff beating Derby 6-1 tonight has dampened my views regarding the match saturday! Hopefully with Varney not playing Clarke an Tudders will come good!

Clarke deserved to start tonight. Sodje is way over-rated, he did have a period where he made an impact, but that's what he is, an impact player with strength and pace. His first touch is awful and when he has space and has to think about it he's just not good enough. I think he's best to use in the last ten minutes. I'll let him prove me wrong though.

oh i agree, if i was choosing the team clarke would of started anyway. i just get the feeling laws prefers clarke for now. if we can get sodje back to how he was before the serious injury when he was scoring then maybe he will score a few but tbh i have hardly seen anything of him to make a proper judgement, so will believe what you say about him:D
good point gained tonight ,although im sure Colin would be gutted at not beating us
CorkerSWFC 29-09-2009, 22:33 Did someone just FART???????????

It's about time, as soon as I made him my captain he stopped scoring!
I think most people around the top of the league have probably got him though so it won't make all that much difference.

That period where he "made an impact" was the only time he's been fully fit. He scared defences to death, but unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see that Sodje back again given his shocking record with injuries. Unless something miraculous happens I think he'll be released at the end of his contract in the summer.
The first 45 minutes last night, was the worst half of "football" I have had the misfortune to witness in a long time.
Apart from O' Connor's foul, and Clarke booting the ball into the crowd twice, absoulutely nothing of interest happened.
Palace were bad (even two Palace supporting friends have stopped going), and we weren't much better.
The second half was slightly better, but once we had wasted our golden chances, it was obvious we weren't going to score. In the end not conceding a late (completely out of the blue) goal there, as on occasions in the past and the overall lack of entertainment meant the final whistle came as a relief .
I genuinely sympathise with any Wednesdayites, who used up a day of their annual holiday entitlement to go.
(But, at least the team were awake and din't get over-run, after a long coach journey, as happened at Reading last year!)
On reflection, I'm trying to think if I have ever seen a decent game at Selhurst (or Parkhurst Cell as the Charlton fans renamed it) in the last 30 years!
al_partridge 30-09-2009, 11:19 Geocol - even though we're supposedly playing good football there have been far too many of those halves in the last few years. I don't know why it is that under Laws we only ever seem to perform for half a game. Still, it was better than the first half the other Friday night!
I couldn't go last night, but I've done Selhurst Park several times before and I don't think I've ever seen a good game there either. I was there when we clinched 3rd place in 1992 which was a fantastic occasion with about 7k Wednesdayites there despite not being a great game. Then also around that time, I think it may have even been the same year, I was there on a Wednesday night seeing us lose 2-1 to Wimbledon in front of only 3,121 fans of which half were Wednesday, and I think that was possibly the worst game of football I've ever seen in my life.

Part of the problem last night, it was stalemate with a complete lack of creativity from anywhere.
When we did get wide our crosses were awful, and it pains me to have to say it but sheff71 made a valid point, and our players could learn something from the way they put dangerous crosses in during the first half the other Friday night.
I think the 4-1 defeat to Wimbledon which signalled the end of Jewell's reign, was the darkest hour at an almost always dismal Selhurst, but the 2-1 you mentioned would be a close call!
