My partner and i are really wanting to get married. We have an idea of where we want to get married and the cost but due to the fact we havent got the best credit history we're not sure how to take the next step.

Does anyone have any ideas on loans specifically for weddings or anything along those lines?

Thanks

I've never heard of these? How much are you wanting to borrow? Because if were talking like 5K + then the repayments would be around £100 per month for 5 years or more per month and for longer etc the more you wanted to borrow, would you not be better saving £100 per month your self and you'd have 5k in like 4 years? I know it seems an age away but you could plan it all and have something to look forward to?
It's just if you borrow it and repay it loan wise your paying loads of interest and for years?

Have you any relatives with a bit of money who could help you?

Personally I would never advise anyone to go into debt to finance a wedding. It's hard enough to start married life with low incomes and getting housing sorted etc, but to do it already starting in debt just doesn't sound like a sensible plan to me.

It's the marriage that matters, not the wedding!

Medusa has it spot on. Don't get into debt for the wedding. I don;t think there are specific wedding loans (clever marketing maybe<) it would probably be a normal unsecured loan. My brother is still paying his off from 7 years ago (& they got divorced because of the money stress).

My wife & I just got married in July & it was amazing & luckily myself & my father in law had saved, but I honestly think whatever we had done would have been amazing anyway. It's all about the people there on the day.

Work out what you can afford, what other things people can help with - perhaps you have friends who are great at catering, photography etc who can do you a deal. Work out what else you need & save for it (I can help - there's my little self promo).

Good luck with it all!
