What was the name of the band playing in the City Hall Ballroom in the early 1960s and how long was it before this band stopped playing this venue? Where did the organist fit into the picture - was he called Ken Outram?

Not sure about the 60's, but in the 50's it was Bernard Taylor and his band. It's very likely that he did still play there into the 60's. Was it Ken Outram that played for the dances at Meadowhall in the last decade? Those City Hall days have special memories. that's where I met my wife and married her 54 years ago. After the wedding, Bernard Taylor played us some lovely music.

Bernard Taylor played in the fifties and possibly into the sixties. Cyril Ball was the MC and to the best of my memory the organist played in the interval and was announced as Barry at the Organ so there is a good chance that his first name was Barry.

Ken Outram was a good friend of my Dad's, he was an organist too and they used to meet up occasionally in Fitzallan Square. Ken was blind and my Dad had this little tune he would whistle as he walked toward him so he'd know it was him.
