Boohoo, I don't like heartbeat, I think it should be taken off television or at least put somewhere in the schedules when i'm not watching!

Its like you can't avoid it these days, theres almost an hour of it every day, i mean what am i supposed to do, turn off my telly and get a life? thats just not fair!

Waaa!!!!

[I apologise for the highly sarcastic humour, it won't happen again]

Yes - or it should at least realise that the 60s actually only lasted 10 years, and as it has been on the air much longer than that it should now be about 1973 and they should be getting their flares out!

Yes, and all copies should be burned, and everyone in it killed and the village featured should be bombed.

(I didn't like the program)

No, it should be kept on air because it causes pleasure for millions of people. Having been born and raised in 1960s Yorkshire, it is quite nice for me to be able to 'dip in' to the programme to experience the fashions, music, cars etc of those times again. The plots are basic, and occasionally ludicrous, one concedes. In particular, 'Lord Ashfordley' appears to be an exceptionally gullible and unutterably stupid knight of the shires. In my experience, they are anything but. The aristocrat seems to be burgled, ransacked or cheated by cut-purses and con men nearly every week.

One imagines a phone call to the police station:-
Lord A. 'Hello, is that Ventriss? '
Ventriss. '[audible sigh] Yes, Lord Ashfordley , it's Ventriss. Don't tell me, you've been burgled again, sir? That'll be the fourth time in a fortnight!'
Lord A. ''Fraid not, old chap. Worse than that. This time I've been buggered, tied up and buggered senseless'
Ventriss. 'Shall I bring a soothing salve, your lordship?'
Lord A. 'yes, Ventriss...I think you better had'.

It might liven things up for you eh, Andrew...!

No, 'cause in the next series I was hovering in the background pulling faces while they were filming an episode and I want to see if I can spot myself. I think someone dies in it because they were filming in a graveyard in Whitby - there was a girl with long mousey blond hair and a cream mac on stood with an older fella by a grave.

There's a village up there, Goathland, where they must film it, because when I passed through they had a garage with 'heartbeat' stuff all round it.

Anyway, it keeps my mum entertained. ;)

I enjoyed the first few seasons of Heartbeat and once even found myself in Goathland looking for the bus stop and phone box that I later discovered were just props.
I like the music from those days and the fact that the cars had a bit of character and of course not forgetting the fashions particularily the mini-skirt.

TAKE IT OFF AIR!

I've always hated it. I'vce had a bit to do with it over the years and I'm told the production team are heartless b******s who exploit everyone and everything around them.

Friends of mine allowed them to borrow some classic scoters once for a scene and they came back wrecked!

You have been warned!

Heartbeat was set in my era but it has always given me the impression it was another version of Emmerdale. Find it boring diggining up the old boring recycled actors that have been on so many programs.

It seems to me that the main reason for making it is to generate revenue from overseas sales. It's pretty popular here in Ontario. I love to see the scenery but it's driving me crazy with the use of "americanisms" I lived in England in the 60's and nobody that I knew called the pictures "movies" I also saw an episode where it had "stop" painted on the road instead of "halt" but what really p****s me off is when the characters say "over and out" whilst using the radio. This is a contradiction in terms. It can be "over" or "out" BUT NEVER together. Pure Hollywood.

it's a great progam!! you can sit and watch it without the fear that anything too sinister will happen........a great sunday program

On the other hand I think that it should be axed just to annoy the grumpy old git who (really) owns the garage. The last time we went they were just about to do some filming down in the village, Everyone was milling round looking at all the cars etc. and the motorbike (which I presume he owns too) was parked outside the garage, My Dad went to take a picture of it and the grumpy garage owner appeared and said "Can't you read" and pointed to a cacky sign he had made himself that said "NO PHOTO'S TO BE TAKEN UNLESS A POSTCARD IS PURCHASED-POSTCARDS £1.00" what a miserable git as if he's not making enough money from ITV, my Dad just ignored him and carried on taking the picture....and rightly so!!!

Should heart be taken off ?, i think not why not get rid of some of the other crap ie , big brother, flog it, and all the other reality tv. Cant do that tho its all good viewing isnt it???.:loopy: :loopy:

You're right , Brooksy. We can't stop real culture in the U.K.

Big Brother may be a load of crap but on S.F. nearly nine hundred people have commented on it and nearly twenty thousand have looked at the thread. Compare that with any other thread and you'll see why the Great British Public can never be deprived of their Big Brother programme.
Everybody's entitled to a bit of sunshine in their lives.

Not only should it be taken off the air for crimes against fiction; it should be taken off the planet. In fact, set the next series in space and i might tune in - 'no one can hear a heartbeat in space -thank ****!

No - you've got to be joking - Heartbeat's not STILL going?

It was unwatchable when it first came on - I can't believe they're still making it! :gag: No wonder ITVs viewing figures have gone down the pan!
