just like to enlighten everyone with my disaster with bt.to cut a very long story short just switched from featureline to basic bt business package. once my bill comes through ive been charged 80 for the privilage. not once was i notified of these charges.
this is just the tip of the iceberg.
when i first went to bt they told me there was no line when there was, then once that resolved, they went and switched on phone line next door. need i go on. anyone else out there had any trouble like this or am i the unfortunete one

Were you still in contract for the featureline service as you would be liable for the surplus rental over and above basic for the remainder of the contract? Or did you have extra lines added when you changed the package? I can't think of any other reason you would be charged as you were dropping down your level of service.

yes i was still in my featureline contract by 3 months but would not have changed if i had been notified of this charge. i would have waited. never asked for featureline in the first place either. 30 of the 80 i was charged was for connection to the new servicce aswell.
recently had bt broadband business installed aswell and it was whilst i was on the phone sorting that out that i asked if there was any cheaper deal for my phoneline as i didnt use any of the features of phone line.
but if you add this 80 charges ive had to pay, its no cheaper

BT are evil, I got scammed by them not so long back, never trust any companies with British in their name, ie. British Gas / BNP etc

Send a letter of compliant and mention you will take it to otelo and they will start to take note of you a little more.

otelo is the ombudsman that BT is signed up to and will investigate your complaint as long as you have already complaint but are not happy with the outcome.

I cannot tell you how much I hate these robbing turds. They left me in a right mess after miss advising of a phone package for my small business. I ended up complaining to OFTEL, the papers and anyone else who would listen. If at all possible you can survive your life without giving anything to these charletans you will thank yourself.

After 6 months of being passed about from pillar to post and the inevitable lost letters of complaint, even though they were sent by recoreded delivery, I settled with them a partial refund of line rental and they waived the fees for all calls made on the line. I had to pay for the broadband. It still gets on my nerves that they still keep asking for me to reconsider returning to BT. Telling them to get stuffed gives me great pleasure.

The man hours it took for me to unravel the mess that they made was considerable.
