They are bilge. i would not bother watching one. I think they are awful, unfunny and an insult to the celibate.

I just cannot understand the appeal of them.

Some are total dross (usually able to spot them as Matthew McConaghey is in the lead male role), but on occasion there are those that i find strangely enjoyable, or that play a different take on the genre. Knocked Up was one such rom-com, as was 40 year Old Virgin, Something About Mary, and The proposal (although the Ryan Reynolds factor is probably one reason i was drawn to it...just as with Just Friends). Rom coms can either be the standard 'chick flick' type of film, or more universal in appeal. I Love You Man was another almost rom-com (although a better term for that type of film is a 'bro-mance comedy').

Let's not forget that Zack & Miri Make A Porno is, in all essence, a rom-com. Also Shaun of the Dead was a Rom-Zom-Com.

I must say while being a film fan I find it very easy to avoid them (It comes with having a girlfriend who's in to action, horror, comedy... etc,)

but the one's I have watched have definately been "arse water of the worst kind"

Sometimes though there's nothing better than watching a film about two people falling in love :help:
