View Full Version : Naming an animal, with the letter M. Suggestions please?
gina2007 22-09-2009, 16:16 Well, me and the OH are still looking into getting another pet. And researching all the time on different ones. But we aren't going to do this until we get our rabbits done and have the funds to care for an animal. But we're considering names...
We currently have;
Minnie, Cat.
Maisy; Rabbit #1
Daisy; Rabbit #2 [She was already named..!]
In the past i've had..
Myrtle (Dont ask..)
Micky [Later to be called Michelle.. Yep, we got sexed wrong!]
Merlin.
Minx
TC
They were all cats.
So, what names would you suggest?
We want to keep up my ever favorite 'M' theme. And stick to cartoon characters :hihi:
Cheesy I know.. But come on!
bootieblade 22-09-2009, 17:05 marvin and mister magoo, not to good sorry
missflirtuk 22-09-2009, 17:06 Mickey of course :hihi:.
Moonbird 22-09-2009, 17:39 I had a dog called Mindy she was my little princess, Mindy is a very good name :)
gina2007 22-09-2009, 17:51 Moonbird... We could call it Moonbird.. :O
People have suggested, Monty, but that for some reason screams 'big ugly mongrel type dog' Im strange, I know.
Angela, ive already had micky/mickey. The only animal, i'd reconsider the same name for would be TC my big cat who died aged 15years.. Who loved just chilling out and relaxing, he was a tortie type cat, my mum got him for my sister who was around 2/3 at the time when he was a tiny kitten about 3weeks old. I grew up, not knowing life without him and he died in his favorite place, the bathroom sink. Jesus.. Ive got tears in my eyes!!!!
Anyway.. More suggestions, for a cat/rabbit/pig... Probably the ONLY animals we'll ever have. Even though the OH wants a st bernard!
Moonbird 22-09-2009, 18:09 Moonbird... We could call it Moonbird.. :O
:hihi: Moonbird indeed, be ok for a bird though I suppose... just chuckling imagining you registering that name with a vet :hihi:
How about Molly or Mica?
bogwoppit 22-09-2009, 18:12 Magnus, Marvin, Magick, moody, mardy, marbles, mars, mercury, Melvin, Ming the merciless, moon or moonshine, mysterious, michelle (the french way for a bit of mystique), mystique even! I like the M name game! Just off to cook and i'll be thinking of them as doing so...

Oh I think Moon is a fabulous name, particularly for a cat. One of my cats is called Mushroom btw...dont ask:hihi:
gina2007 23-09-2009, 07:32 Oh yay lots of suggestions, i'll get the OH to look when he's done work :D
I want something that wouldn't be strange.. As moonbird says registering with vets etc I feel so silly when they shout 'Maisy and Daisy Gosling' or 'Minnie Gosling' sooo ashamed for them :hihi: I have a different surname now though, its not as patronising as that!
We've had lots of names spring to mind but nothing really stuck in our head.
:) Thanks for all the suggestions, x
nikki-red 23-09-2009, 08:06 Our kitten was called Princess Matilda!!! The kids chose it, I just called her Mattie, or Mattiemoomin!
(RIP Mattie...xxxx)
metalman 23-09-2009, 11:58 Mr Jinks, wasn't he a cartoon cat?
Edit: indeed he was, though looking at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixie_and_Dixie_and_Mr._Jinks it appears that it rather dates me back to the antediluvian era...

And a cat in meet the parents/fockers :D
Moriarty........................................
For a cat, Mistoffelees (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Mistoffelees).
'And we all say, oh well I never, was there ever a cat so clever as magical Mr Mistoffeles?'
You could call him Misty for short :D .
Oh dear, I've just quoted lyrics from an Andrew Lloyd Webber song :hihi: .
ETA: I'll make up for it by including the poem (http://famouspoetsandpoems.com/poets/t__s__eliot/poems/15147) too.
In Uppers 24-09-2009, 12:39 Moonbird... We could call it Moonbird.. :O

You could call it Moonbird but whatever you do, don't shorten it & start shouting MOONIE down the road!! lol
As for Monty, I used to know a big horse with this name so it always reminds me of him.
My cat's called Minty but nothing to do with Eastenders thankfully. She (we thought was a he) is black and white so is named after minty humbugs!!!!!!
Good luck with finding a suitable name and I'm sure you'll have a story as to why you end up naming it whatever it gets called.:)
iceman1234 24-09-2009, 12:43 how about miea
mummysaz21 25-09-2009, 07:24 well seenas milly breaking my heart and shes moving on you could name it milly after my milly
gina2007 25-09-2009, 08:30 :D Well I love all the suggestions! I will, hopefully pick a name listed on here for my next animal :D
It could possibly be a cat, tomorrow :suspect:
I had a rabbit which I called miffy, after the cartoon rabbit.
My cat is called Meg, and my mother's cat is called Mog, after the children's book character.
claire1976 25-09-2009, 19:44 We have a long running family thing of naming our pets starting with a T, think we've done them all now.
How about Moose, I knew someone with a dog called Moose and it just seemed really fitting.
gina2007 25-09-2009, 20:11 I think it's going to depend on the animal really.
And its 'looks' :hihi:
But when, if, we get another pet we'll post up pictures etc and let people help us decide! :D
Mordecai
Sorry, it's what I wanted to call Harley!
gina2007 30-09-2009, 21:09 Me again... After thinking of names for our new cat, (See other thread.. With pictures!) we're stuck on names..
