Its nearly time for my two boy kittens to be castrated but am not sure how to go about it. Can anyone tell me where is best place to take them and how much it would cost me? Any help would be appriciated .thanks

When looking for my rabbits to be done, I got quoted VERY different prices. Your best bet would be to get the yellow pages out, go to vets and call around 10 different places up, you'll be shocked at the difference. Then when you have got your way down to about 3 places, ask on here for advice on which one. We're still playing around with vets, unsure which to take them to yet. But when we have our list down to about 3/4 we'll be asking on here about them.

Oh and to make it a bit easier for you, for 1 female rabbit to be done I got prices from £49 to £120. Big difference.

And I know your asking for male cats but the prices are always different. :)

I agree that ringing round it is worth while. I have just been ringing round about our new puppy . Although I didnt get such huge variations - mostly got qouted £120ish , couple of £140, one ridiculous £175 and then Spires at Chesterfield quoted £94...
Now off to ask on here about Spires and see what people think about some of the others...
HTH:)

It is the best, IMO, to call around. The cheapest, might not always be the best though. I found that the cheapest I had quoted, wasn't the best but one that quoted abit higher seems to have a better rep on here than the others. Ive been dragging up old threads looking at what people have said about places. Ive also, googled some vets, like 'Abbeymoor Vets Halifax Rd Sheffield' and its come up with other forums etc that have reviews on them.

Its hard trying to find what you'd call perfect to have your pets done at. We're still 'thinking' where to go. We are registered at Abbeymoor, so would probably go to them but we want to change vets too. So hard isn't it? :hihi:

If you pm magsie she may be able to advise you and may be able to get some discount/vouchers

Hi,

Dont know if the same scheme is on here but my mum lives in Barnsley and 3 different Vets are offering free neutering for cats in partnership with the CPL. All they ask is for a donation and you dont have to be on benefits.

No, there is no scheme for free CP neutering in Sheffield at the moment altho CP will help with part-vouchers of £30 if cat owners are on benefit. I think Spire at Chesterfield are the cheapest and a CP voucher would cover the cost easily for male cats. Have pm-d you Diana x

Diana it's a lot more straight foreward for boys than girls my male was done not long since and he was up and about straight away didnt bother him one little bit :) altho i got 2 kittens going in on friday so fingers crossed they get thru it as easy as he did :)

No, don't worry love. All my cats over the many years have been fine, male and female. And it's so much better for their health to be neutered, plus the added bonus of no more kits. We've all got to do as much as we can to reduce the number of kits being born. It seems now that kits are being born all year round.
Good for you getting your boys neutered - they'll be fine x
