MC Spyda 22-09-2009, 10:56 I don't think they should be showing balls on TV pre watershed.
My child could easily have seen that.
boyfriday 22-09-2009, 10:57 You don't have to look at their face nikki :hihi:
I've had a lifetime of relying on that charitable virtue from ladies ;)

boyfriday 22-09-2009, 10:59 Or beer goggles? :hihi:

Ah, your not going to pull in a coffee shop :loopy: ;)
MC Spyda 22-09-2009, 11:00 Would it upset your child MC Spyda? Have they never seen their father naked?
It's not about that, it's about the parent choosing where and when to explain these things to their child.
Why should I be forced to explain to my child why a man is touching a blokes testicles?
You see where I'm coming from?
Where do we draw the line, we may as well say it's fine to show people having sex pre watershed too.
mr chris 22-09-2009, 11:01 I don't think they should be showing balls on TV pre watershed.
My child could easily have seen that.
But it's presented in a scientific, non sexual, completely NON tittilating manner. Bringing your child up to be ashamed of what they have (if they're a boy....) or what the other half of the population has (if they're a girl) is, well, rather backwards. I'm not criticising your parenting methods, but I know that I'd rather my child found things out before all the playground whispering.
All your child needs to know if that the man doing the touching is a doctor and that the man being touched "might be poorly". Kids will only be shocked and ashamed if you teach them to be.
Good on This Morning, I say - ignorance is no excuse when it comes to things like cancer.
nikkiboo27 22-09-2009, 11:02 That must be what Im doing wrong, Ive previously gone for tee totallers :hihi:
In cafes they may just ask if you want cream with your scone :hihi:

There's at least one, Ritzrat that is!

Aye, I'm not saying it's wrong, but it should be the individual parent's choice.
You say it's not in a sexual way, but why does it matter whether it is sexual or not. Do you think that sex should be hidden from young children, but not other things? What is it that makes sex a taboo subject?
nikkiboo27 22-09-2009, 11:04 There's at least one, Ritzrat that is!
Do we think its due to the new presenter? :D
LitleMermaid 22-09-2009, 11:08 Spyda-there wouldn't have been a problem with your child seeing it if you didn't want them to-they gave you plenty of warning, Philip said something like "if you don't want to watch this then now's the time to look away."
LitleMermaid 22-09-2009, 11:10 Though personally I have to say I don't see the problem.

Oh I have no doubt they had a warning, but a warning doesn't stop someone from flicking on to the channel.
You could use the warning argument for anything. You could say it's fine to show porn on daytime TV as long as there is a warning before hand.
LitleMermaid 22-09-2009, 11:12 I seriously doubt that's ever going to happen :?
If anyone equates a tesicle examination with porn then you need to look for some better films :hihi:
Do we think its due to the new presenter? :D
Ha, its a shame Holly wasn't giving the examination
MC Spyda 22-09-2009, 11:15 lol no I'm not directly relating it to porn, I'm saying that you are saying it's OK because they gave a warning. Then surely in your eyes anything is OK to be shown as long as there is a warning before hand?
As I say, I'm not saying it actually is wrong for this to be shown, but surely everyone can appreciate that there would be plenty of parents out there that would not appreciate their children to see it.
LitleMermaid 22-09-2009, 11:18 I can definately understand where you are coming from! It was quite tastefully done though, and it is an important issue. I suppose it's just a case of weighing up the pros and cons isn't it? I guess it's not going to become a common occurance, so as a one-off it's probably good-the shock factor has obviously got people talking, which is in itself raising awareness, which has got to be a good thing.
I didn't see this on the TV, but I can honestly say that if I had had the TV on at that time and either of my kids were here to see it, I wouldn't have minded in the slightest..
My teenage daughter would have probably tutted, rolled her eyes and probably giggled a little, my 9 year old lad would have probably shouted me into the room to come and see it, and I would have asked umpteen questions about it, to which I would have gladly answered..
boyfriday 22-09-2009, 11:38 It's not about that, it's about the parent choosing where and when to explain these things to their child.
I'm not sure there's anything that needs explaining, MC, but it's a matter for you.
Why should I be forced to explain to my child why a man is touching a blokes testicles?
To be fair I didnt see the programme and would be a little more concerned if they didn't issue a warning advising viewers of the nudity content, so fair point.
You see where I'm coming from?
Yes, of course I see where you're coming from, but I'm just one of those people that doesn't have a problem with nudity, especially in this setting, where a TV programme is tackling (pardon the pun) a preventable disease that men (and their partners) are usually ignorant of.
Where do we draw the line, we may as well say it's fine to show people having sex pre watershed too.
I think there's a massive difference between sex and testicular cancer, and if your child had asked, perhaps it might have been an opportunity to explain what those dangly things between Daddy's legs are there for :)
Do we think its due to the new presenter? :D
You mean Holly wanna booby ?? Nar yer wrong it was because some pillock put the wrong load on my wagon so I get the day off with pay... Gotta say though that Holly is not even half the woman that fern was :hihi::hihi:
epiphany 22-09-2009, 12:19 Did old Schofaz get his balls out on telly?
Wouldn't have minded having mine checked by Fern if it was about 10 years ago.

Wouldn't that have been a little bit illegal :o

There is no law backstage on ITV. ;)
Most men should be experts in locating any odd lumps downstairs.I mean,'come on' i'm sure i aint the only guy who sits in front of the box at night with hand down trackie bottoms tampering with thee old onion bag.The hard bit is doing something about it if anything unusual is found.Being embarrassed is a killer.
I'd rather see an old blokes gonads, than either Fiona Phillips or Lorraine Kelly, they would be much more attractive.

Most boys grow out of that at about 15.:D

Hmm, now you're putting words in my mouth.
*Peaches* 22-09-2009, 15:54 I say well done This Morning for daring to approach the subject in such a way. I didn't see the program, but no doubt they'll get complaints...
nikkiboo27 22-09-2009, 15:59 Hmm, now you're putting words in my mouth.
Aslong as there not putting anything else in your mouth :hihi:
I saw it this morning and i had a good feel of my genitals afterwards, i mean the bloke was quite good looking.
missymoo73 22-09-2009, 19:37 I would have thought most men know there balls very well. But its a serious subject though and would most men really go to dr's if they found anything???
rubydazzler 22-09-2009, 21:28 Did old Schofaz get his balls out on telly? Wouldn't have minded having mine checked by Fern if it was about 10 years ago. :love:Wouldn't you have been about 12 then? Dirty boy! tsk ...

Anyway full marks to This Morning for tackling a serious subject. MCSpyda, does anyone really sit watching daytime TV with their little kids, surely not??
missflirtuk 03-10-2009, 19:47 I know a male who will just stand around with his hands down his pants holding his woo woo's :hihi:. So I am sure if he felt something a little unusual he would know about it. His hands are never off thee old nut bag :hihi:.
