View Full Version : Well done Kevin Blackwell
Stockers 22-09-2009, 09:13 Out thought Brian Laws and showed what a class act he was at the final whistle.
No falling to his knees, no fist punching the air, no scarf waving and no running down the touchline to the fans liked he'd just won the FA Cup, just a wink to the camera and a hand shake with the dejected management and coaching staff on the losers bench.
Decorum and class shown by Kevin Blackwell - Fat Simon Cowell take note, i know we're expected to win whenever we play the Wednesday but take a long hard look at a manager with a bit of CLASS!

Class?...all that shows is he's got no emotion, he doesnt put anything into the derby or any games, all he wants is the result, which to be fair he got this time. i'd rather have a manger that shows he's put all his emotions and feelings into a match...I wonder if the owls would have come out in the second half and out played you if Brian laws hadn't been emotionally involved, its like Brazil playing germany, passion and emotion (Laws) against statistics and workrate (blackwell).

Wednesday = Brazil - hahahaha!!!
Wednesday lumping the ball upfront constantly in the first half was AWFUL stuff......fair play Wednesday tried to get back in it but the game was over by half time.
Wednesday fans must take off those blue and white tinted specs cos the style of football they play ain't that pretty and not very effective.

if you read my post correctly instead of skimming over it you'll see im not comparing the owls to brazil in play, or am i comparing utd to germany either, haa haa haa that would be just stupid, what im comparing is the emotional to the boring, clinical...I.E us to your lot.
What do you expect a defence to do if they are getting bombarded ala wimbledon, cambridge style totally cutting the midfield out, under pressure you get ball away as far as possible.
Yet non of our 3 goals came from a long ball? strange that.
Panthera 22-09-2009, 10:21 i know they came from us heh
I dont like our manager but he got it right this time.

Blades - clinical and boring....hahaaha, you don't half talk some tripe you Wednesday fans!!!!
The football Wednesday play is boring, a few passes in their own half followed by a lump upfront does not (in my eyes) represent the traits of a footballing side.
A few Wendies get over excited but i feel once again its mid table obsurity for our blue and white porky chums.

And yet, when Warnock showed emotion, everyone just called him a pillock.
Make your mind up!
I though wednesday passed it very well until they got past the edge of the centre circle then they just seemed to loose any ideas and then just hit and hope towards tudgay- id hate to see what he could do given good service.

The cringeworthy thing about Fat Simon Cowell is he's tried his damn hardest to be Neil Warnock yet failed on many accounts.
The whole scarf waving (staged) saga at Hillsborough was embarrassing, its like having a very uncool dad.
If you want another laugh at Wednesday i suggest a look on OwlsTalk, read the Strappedforcash thread about him on the pier and Wednesday been the girl out at sea drowning.........he's (removed)priceless that fella, he doesn't have the right to come within 100yds are Kevin McCabe.

a wink and a big sigh of relief I think, just used up his last get out of jail free card!!! :hihi: blackwell out!!!!!!!!!
you might have won the previous derbies if tubby blackwell had shown as much passion as laws & co.!! blackwell out!!!!
I doubt that many wednesday fans will think that strafford is a better chairman than mccabe but laws vs blackwell- thats a much closer run thing.

Are Kevin McCabe? I know you come from the back end of beyond, but surely education has at least started filtering through, even in the land that time forgot?
As for your original point, Blackwell's little wink to camera was very telling - I think, as did most of the commentators at the time, that it was a tacit acknowledgement that you had been pushed all the way by Wednesday in the second half. I don’t think anyone with half a brain would have a problem with Laws celebrations in the past. After all, as you lot keep reminding us, United are sooooooooooooooo far in front of us on the pitch, for little old Wednesday beating the 'Real Madrid of the north' is quite some achievement, no? And to do it, what 3 times in four seasons (I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong), well that's even more remarkable...
Oh, and reading your opponents web site=tragically sad:hihi:

Fortunately for me i didn't have to burn my eyes with the blue and white filth, someone found it so funny they took the liberty of copying and pasting it onto Bladesmad where i'm an occasional reader.....thanks for the concern though :)
Pushed all the way.....mmmmm, not really, it was over as a contest in the first half, you got two goals, one from a clearance that should have been dealt with and another from a pot shot of desperation, after that you took your foot of the peddle and left the Blades to rid out the last 20 minutes in which Grant kept you in it with 2 excellent saves from Morgan and Evans.
3-2
I'll give it to Blackwell, I thought he'd run around like a headless chicken after all the talk he usually gives. But credit, this is how to do it, gives you a bit more class.
But one thing, he needs to stop pretending he's a Blade, only Warnock could do that, as he really is a Blade.
Stockers, every single one of your posts sounds like a stab at Brian Laws for being passionate about the club he manages. All the best managers show emotion in hard-fought games like these. If you don't then there's something missing... Did you see Alex Ferguson at the end of the Manchester derby??
Instead of trying to deflect from the fact that Wednesday panned your lot in the second half and had your fans pooping in their pants, urging the ref to blow the whistle before we score an equaliser - you've decided to post about how professional Bluntwell was at the end??? He only walked onto the pitch because he was relieved to have only just won.
You state that he winked - yet, you didn't state that he also looked to the sky in relief. Whatever you try to blacken Brian Laws with, whether it be his celebrations at a goal ( like the rest of us ) or the fact that he was 'Tactically' beaten by Bluntwell ( which is the most laughable as he didn't know what hit his team in the second half ) We still like our manager and you don't see Wednesday fans calling for him to be sacked almost every week.
Brian Laws is one of the most professional managers in the Championship, at least he doesn't look like he's just walked out of an episode of Shameless wearing a sweater and tracky bottoms.
Up the Owls!

Okay then, if that's the way you want to see it, United strolled it at a canter. How foolish of me.
I agree United could (and should) have had more but for Grants saves, but while deriding the quality of our goals, you might want to reflect on the quality of your own - however you cut it, one smart finish from Ward and a scrappy deflected Henderson goal were all you could manage - you needed Buxton to win the game for you.

There's a first time for everything. The measure of class and dignity is not how to respond after a win, but in defeat. Sadly (yet hilariously), Blackwell has no class at all, coming across like a spoilt child because it just isn't fair that he's lost.
What do you want me to say, Seth?
Earwiggo 22-09-2009, 11:43 I'm amazed that after so much ground bait being slung in, there are so many Wednesday fans jumping on the hook.

It's just a pity that it reads as though it was composed by a child, but of course you have a child don't you? Now be a good chap and keep it away from the computer.

I've been reading from afar the posts about how great Wednesday were, how lucky the Blades were and how Wednesday deserved at least a point!!
Look, we all know Wednesday are the Brazil of the Championship, how MASSIVE they are, how they're only 2 or 3 players off automatic promotion etc etc and i can't be arsed to respond to pissy posts like that.

Up the Owls!
And yet your wonderful Laws didn't know what hit his team for the first half as they were outplayed, and the latter half of the second? Your own Laws put on a dumpling up front instead of the dangerous Varney, great managerial astuteness there, coupled with the much mentioned frailties at the back of Buxton and Purse, which he ignored, and came back to haunt him.
Blackwell has many detractors on here, and deservedly so, but on this occasion he put Flaws in his place.
You're not related to the numpty female owls fan who phoned RS on Friday around 10pm, saying that the owls deserved to win because Laws wears a suit and Blackwell wears football gear are you?

Really? in the second half it looked like it was his running off the ball that was helping to create the gaping holes in our defence for Gray and Esajas in particular - we were certainly pleased to see him go off, especially when Clarke came on. Just shows how we all see it differently though I suppose :) Also, he did help set up the first goal, didn't Esajas shot hit him on the head? :)
