View Full Version : Sheffield dog pound. Cats and Kittens Needing Homes.
I'm writing this on behalf of Sheffield Pound who currently have cats and kittens for adoption and I know a lot of people think they only have dogs.
They have 3, 10week old kittens, 2 female black and white, and 1 tabby and white male.
Their mum, black, about 1-2yrs old
1 smokey grey male and 1 black female, 5month old kittens. Brother and sister.
All desperate for new homes.
Please contact the pound if you are interested in offering a loving home ro any of them!
Thanks
helenasq 21-09-2009, 18:09 I got a kitten from the pound last year. He's the most adorable, loving, chilled out cat I've ever known. I would certainly recommend pound cats/kits :)
gina2007 21-09-2009, 18:30 Is there a contact number? I'd just come on to ask if anyone had it, as my aunt is wanting another cat! :)
01142930362 phone that number (main office) tomorrow after 9 but before 4 to arrange an appointment to view them :)
gina2007 21-09-2009, 19:53 Thanks, will pass it on.
Do you have any idea of how many are in there at the moment?
Her 2 cats have died, aged 17 and 18 in the past year so shes looking for 2, maybe 3!
Been away for a week. Were the photos ever published of the cats in the dog pound? I rehomed some last year and they all were wonderful cats and made lovely pets. And all were very used to dogs!! They need to get out of there even though they get TLC from the staff, there's no place like home! x
sazzlebrin 22-09-2009, 22:05 update on the kitys , the young tabby male has found a new home today. so the 2 black and white kittys are still needing a new home and the grey and black brother and sister are still there,,im sure i may be able to get some piccys on here x
Sazzle, if it's easier to email me the pix I'll publish them on here. And I'll do my best to email everyone I know. It worked before! Bless you.

gina2007 25-09-2009, 08:26 Oh I will Jinx, i'll probably come home with her! :D
She's only young but needs some weight putting on bless her :)
candystick 25-09-2009, 09:31 hi, can anyone tell me where the dog pound is? and how much is it to adopt a cat / kitten? thanks
Old RSPCA kennels on spring street near westbar police station. Phone 01142930362 to make an appointment if you are thinking of viewing them. £30 adoption fee for a cat or kitten
gina2007 25-09-2009, 09:45 The number you've given by the way Jinx, goes through to the Animal protection bit, and they call you back after 30min ish so make sure anyone calling has time on their hands! My aunt did it on her dinner break and missed their call back. But she has an appt now. :)
Thats strange. It should be the office number for animal control where all the appointments are made. I know its difficult as there's sometimes where the person that answers the phone isn't available. But thanks for letting me know and I shall get the kennel mobile out.. so alternatively you can ring direct to the kennels on 07817497995
Thanks gina
JinxSta, have all or any of the cats found homes for Christmas? x
This is an old thread but they've got a lot in now - been there months and need to be out asap.
I'd have them all if I thought my husband would let me. I'm in training to be crazy cat lady I think!!!
Rainrescue 23-12-2010, 18:44 Yes - I had heard they were all still in there - how come they aren't promoting what there is in there.
I think they need to be advertised and promoted.
Can someone go down to the pound
get photos of each of the cats in there
send us the photo and the descriptions of each of them - and lets see how many we can move.
We would take what we can - but we don't have any heating in our pens - and its so cold outside for them.
Poor poor things
Please - lets get these cats in homes
rr
I'm not one hundred percent on the sexes of the cats in there but here's what are in:
Ginger and White - Fat mid-age cat - male - Very friendly
Torti Mum, Torti Kit, Black Kit - All females I believe - Torti's are shy but you can handle them - Black one still hisses and needs a lot of work. All penned together.
Ginger and Ginger & White - males nice young and friendly - were shy at first but have come around. Penned together.
Ginger Male - Young - was penned with a kit but now been rehomed - very friendly
princessnemi 24-12-2010, 07:50 Awww I wish I could get a kitten but its hard for me to get to the pounds with not driving :(
The pound is in the city centre so easy to get to via public transport. Prob easier on foot as the roads are a confusing nightmare down there lol.
princessnemi 24-12-2010, 15:29 I went there and got a cat! She's soooooo cute, I went straight out and spent £20 on stuff for her! hehe, I'm still not certain what to name her but I might steal the suggestion of one of the ladies that was there and call her Holly to celebrate my getting her at christmas.
oh that is wonderful! thank you so much :) Which one did you get? Don't forget to post pics when you get some, n let us know how she gets on :)
princessnemi 24-12-2010, 15:53 I'll get a picture of her when she comes out of hiding hehe, she keeps poking her head out and then diving back behind the sofa!
Rainrescue 24-12-2010, 17:38 So
Is that 7 in then jinxsta
If you do get a chance of a pic for each - please send over and we can get on the site.
Are the council still ok to keep them and we can try to rehome them from there?
Obviously - it would be better if we can get write ups a little bit about them - rough ages - and if spayed? as well as pictures - it just makes it easier to rehome.
Which one have you just taken princessnemi? Thats brilliant - in a home for christmas
whippee
Oh Princess, that's brilliant news. A little kit in a forever home at Christmas. Don't forget will you that it will need neutering no later than 5 months. If you need any help at all, get in touch maggieskinner@blueyonder.co.uk We can arrange transport to the vets for spaying and who knows there might be some help with neutering the kit. Well done you.
Get Facebooking everyone, those cats need to get out of the pound, and quickly!
Rainrescue 24-12-2010, 18:53 I've just relisted them on our site, but they are a bit muggled with descriptions n ages n possibly pictures.
If someone from the council could check over which is which and let me know - we can then start to push them for homes.
Well done Rain, it definitely is difficult getting descriptions to fit the photos! I'll relist the two Torties separately cos there are Tortie lovers out there. Shame that lovely cats are struggling for homes.
The Torti female kitten in with the black kit and tortil mum was adopted today..sorry the black kit is male
There is now two more 2yr old cats, one tabby one black that have recently been signed over to the pound, will need to get pics, its been manic so I apologise
I've heard that the scared ginger cat has been rehomed. Anyone on the forum taken it? Would love to know.
if you mean the longish haired one who was in a while ago then he went to live on the farm at Animal Haven :) x
Rainrescue 26-12-2010, 20:49 Yep - I spoke to Dawn today and he was there whilst we spoke. He was a definate scaredy cat and so thank goodness Dawn took him in. She can't cope with any more though - I dread to think how many she is feeding now.
(always food needed for her though people)
Keep pushing them far and wide
Midgecat and I are going down to the pound tomorrow afternoon to hopefully bring out one or two for Midgecat to foster, and also update the pics to the descriptions. I am waiting to hear from fosterers who haven't replied cos of Xmas I suppose! The little black kit being fostered by OhFunkIt is doing really well, bless her for taking out the feistiest!

I can foster youngish kits because they will easily learn to fit in with my rather large furry family but I can't take the older ones as they would find it very difficult, I am here in an emergency if needed.
Rainrescue 26-12-2010, 22:44 Thats fantastic Moonbird - we are getting more info in tomorrow and so will be in an ideal situation to get things sorted if there are any young ones still in there. All will need flea, worm and neuter straight away - which we will pay for and sort out - unless we can manage to get some assistance from either Cat Protection League or RSPCA with some of them. Fingers crossed and will be in touch
