i'm sat in floods of tears here and really do not know what to do. i have just had to kennel my 8 year old rottweiler for the first time due to me going on holiday tomorrow and i feel like i have abandoned her. i know she is going to be well looked after and the kennels look great but i cant help thinking she will be sat there wondering why i have left her and missing me.
i miss her like nuts, she is my best freind and my heart is breaking at the thought of not seeing her for another five days.
i just do not know what to do and am seriously considering not going on holiday and fetching her back.:(

how do you guys get through the heartbreak of leaving your dogs behind?

awwww bless ya, am sure she will have a good time in the kennels, you have your holiday and enjoy it, 5 days will soon pass and u will have your girl back. When u are away keep ringing the kennels up to make sure she is OK

Have a good holiday

aww I know its hard , i persoanally would rather put my dogs into a family if I go away, or have a pet sitter stay in my home. It may be worth looking at this for next time , % days isn't a long time .

She will be a lot happier than you!
I have been putting various dogs in kennels for years, and yes, every time l wonder if l REALLY need that holiday ( l do!) because l feel so guilty. Its good advice from crazy chick to ring the kennels to check your dog is ok, it makes you feel better if nothing else.
Enjoy your holiday, your dog will enjoy hers.

I personally don't use kennels and prefer to send mine to Mutlins where they live as part of the family. They love it there so I don't feel guilty leaving them :)

I cry every time i leave them and so far they have always been fine when i have come home. Enjoy your holiday am sure you have looked into a suitable place for her try and be confident and you will be home soon enough, have fun!!

I'm sure they will be fine in kennels. My old dog used to go in quite happily and seemed not to be too bothered. I won't put the dog I have at the moment into kennels as he spent 4 months in them at the RSPCA and did not react well to them at the time, so luckily my mum loves him and takes him for me :)

Have a lovely holiday.

It's not easy leaving them, but the kennels will look after her and she'll be delighted to see you when you get back!

Mine were fine including the 4 month old pup - i do have to say though that we have now agreed not to take any holidays without the dogs. This was a once in a lifetime thing for these two. NOt that there is anythign wrong with kennelling them - it was just a little upsetting for us.
