im mainly talking about taekwondo, but other martial arts could come into play here too.

how does one get better at sparring and also jumping kicks?

iv seen a lot of footage and seen a lot of players - some are good and some are not so good.

if its down to muscle strength what muscles does one need to work to help their technique come on.

clearly olympic style sparring has changed a lot over the years and appears to be very much about speed. im not sure its changed for the better at all.

For jumping kicks, i find plyometric strength aids these techniques.
With regards to sparring there is no substitute for sheer cardio! Hit the pavement or hit the treadmill.
On top of that start off sparring light and relaxed and slowly build up the intensity as your fitness improives.

You won’t see many jumping kicks in the Olympic taekwondo. On the reverse you won’t see many X-stream martial guys sparring. On the odd occasion you may see the two cross. It’s a different type of muscle development. For sparring you need fast twitch muscles and for jumps you need strength.

Surely for jumps, you would be better of with a Trampoline or a bouncy castle ?
