Each time I attempt to send an email by Microsoft Outlook, the server disconnects and I am unable to send it, the server "virgin" says that my settings are wrong and have sent the correct ones to me, but I have double checked and they are alright, I am at a loss to know what to do, can anyone give me advice please? thank you.
Halevan.

Maybe the "Connection" settings where you choose between:
'Connect using Local Area Network'
'Connect using my phone line'
'Connect using IE's dialler'
If wrongly set it could be disconnecting from the network and looking for a dial-up.
I did say "maybe"!!!
Can you post any error messages that come up please?
However its come to the point where its now beyond evens odds that a customers email issues stem from their own AV software (or other security software). Especially in cases where all the settings look fine and you have no trouble with web pages etc.
I have checked my connect settings and it is on connect to 56K modem and there is no alternative.

If you know you haven't changed anything Hal, try going to Virgin's site and attempting to send and receive something through webmail (if they offer it).
Quite often it will be a fault at their end and you could waste your time altering your own settings.
It's also always worth getting a mail account from another provider, for example Tiscali or IC24. Even if you don't use the service, it's useful for checking if the fault is at your or their end.
There must be some sort of error message - a box that actually shows you there and then that something has gone wrong.
Have you tried temporarily disabling your security software?
Thanks lads, I have tried everything, my supplier, computer experts, tutors at college, virgin, help on my computer, I am dizzy trying all the advice and nothing makes any difference, however, I shall try all your advice as well.
