Soooooooooo tasty & some pubs close by too. D2J 25-07-2005, 21:04 Nirmals on West Street or The Ranmoor Tandoori in er... Ol' Nirmal can be a bit forceful :hihi: She's very suggestive as to the dishes you should try :P Gorgeous grub tho :D slh73 25-07-2005, 21:40 Originally posted by owlsman I recomend Al Ameer, its near the Hallam FM arena and there are plenty of pubs nearby to pop in to for a quick few. Thats the same one that kept me off work for 4 weeks with salmonella poisoning. My personal favourite used to be the Bombay, but thats now closed and changed to Cafe Guru, which I havent tried yet. Current favourite is Mumtaz, on Chesterfield Road, near the retail park. StanRobinson 25-07-2005, 21:53 My recommendation would be Ashoka on Ecclesall Road, never disappoints, top quality ingredients. Nice, friendly patron!! pinky_786 25-07-2005, 21:55 hmm i went to nirmals, soo expensive! food wasnt all that either. sweet centre in rotherham is veryyyyyyyyy nice! food is really tasty owlsman 25-07-2005, 22:03 Originally posted by slh73 Thats the same one that kept me off work for 4 weeks with salmonella poisoning. Lovely food though the new restaurant is a bit lacking in atmosphere. senwar 26-07-2005, 08:16 I love Sahib's on West Street. Stay clear after 11ish on a weekend though if you don't like rowdy curry houses! pete_jim 26-07-2005, 08:16 7 Spices Balti at West Bar comes highly recommended, has some interesting dishes not just run of the mill stuff. For cafe atmosphere we like Kebabish on the Wicker fab melting pot of cultures customer wise and lovely food. jake 26-07-2005, 08:33 Originally posted by bigliamh Hi There are millions of indians in sheff ... I think the only *Indian* restaurant in Sheffield is Nirmals - all the others are Pakistani or Bangladeshi run - I'd love a decent southern or Gujurati Indian veggie place to open up like Bobby's in Leicester. Isn't Gulshan (on the Wicker) an actual INDIAN restaurant? I've not been myself but I'm told it's great. I thought Sahib was Indian too, and that's nice, but a bit pricey. Guderian 26-07-2005, 12:06 Once jumped in a taxi and asked to go to "Gulshan" on the Wicker. The driver got excited by this, proclaiming loudly: "People who know curry, they know Gulshan". High praise indeed. Rightfully so. High quality food. terrano 26-07-2005, 12:11 try mangla on spital hill - I GUARANTEE THERE IS NO BETTER INDIAN FOOD IN SHEFFIELD Shiesh 26-07-2005, 12:13 Originally posted by terrano try mangla on spital hill - I GUARANTEE THERE IS NO BETTER INDIAN FOOD IN SHEFFIELD Oh but there is....DIL SHAD at Woodseats....they do a buffet night the first Monday of every month too!!! Excellent food I wouldn't go anywhere else!! Vini 26-07-2005, 12:52 been to the mangla many a time after a drunken night out, very nice food... suprised no one has mentioned Zeenats in Attercliffe, thats bang next to Don Valley (not far from the arena) nick2 26-07-2005, 13:30 Originally posted by owlsman Ive always wanted to try Nirmals, but never been. Mosey 26-07-2005, 13:54 Mangla and Cashmeir Saifa 26-07-2005, 14:54 When I was a veggie I'd say Kashmir on spital hill every time. Now Im back to being a carnivore - Everest for the win!! Steelcity 26-07-2005, 16:27 The Mangla is very nice indeed. The Indian Chef up in Crookes (opposite the Ball Inn) is my favourite - if a little cramped...Try the Lamb Madras and Bombay Aloo. Not traditional recipes, but still gorgeous. |
