You can get them done at great expense by hairdressers I believe.

Depends what type of hair youve got.

Dont go with the not washing tip. Thats no good at all. Hair needs to be washed, and you can get dreads and wash your hair.

Like I said depends on what typpe of hair youve got, but you can start it off by twisting the hair everyday for a while, then leave it to dread naturally.

Hey Gerbutt,

Do your dreadlocks yourself, its cheap, and if you get a mate to help you it can be a good excuse to watch hours of old 80's movies!!

My babies are 10 months old now :D

One of the girls from Steps got Dreads put in - I remember seeing it on a Christmas video they did. She looked pretty good with them in. First time I'd seen dreads done tidily and effectively. I think she had them all cut off afterwards. Unless they were extensions. Not sure. Contemplated having them done on the basis of this, but couldn't be assed.

**Health warning** I am not a Steps fan, did not enjoy watching the video and like rock. Thank you.

I understand the best way is to simply have them backcombed. It is like teasing the hair into a bush and palmrolling it with wax. Knottyboy.com has a video to show it actually been done. Now for me my hair is not straight and I did the same method and it worked out great.

A young man I know has dreadlocks and says it's with surfing and not combing his hair afterwards.
Surfings a bit scarce in Sheffield.

yer i do .what your hair like? the thinker the better.you also look a ture muppet for 2years or so,coz my friend that how long it take to do /bummer:)firstly you must cut your hair to about number4 to 8 shave depending on the thickness of your hair, sorry if you have grown it long alredy.then you have to bleach your hair as white as you can get it ,by doing this you make the hair hollow, this willl make the hair easyer to knot because you have damged it.
you have to rember that you are trying to make your hair like a africans person hair, which has a much more small diameter than your self,so if you go on the pricable that a small knot is hard to undo,so by bleaching your hair to star of with ,will help your hair to knot up.
So you have cut your hair sort ,lots of bleach this is like planting your seed, now you can watch your dreadlock grow. know you must rubber your hair as often as possable in circular movements with the palm of your hand this will help the hair to knot, your hair will grow knotted and some point in the future you will beable to start ripping your matted hair apart and you will have dreadlock, any question np ,good lookand i hope this helped Bruce
