Could someone explain to me the logic of how many posts are deemed as new when you click on View New Posts? Sometimes I have 6 pages of posts sometimes I have about 4 posts in total. And it seems to be independent of when I last logged on.
Thanks, this will reduce my irritation when trying to relocate a thread I was just on.
This had me confused for ages.
If you logout - they clear.
If you are inactive (following a link, submerged in a long, involved thread) - they clear.
If you wind up opening the forum in a second window too (perhaps to read PMs) you can loose your PM notification, AND lose your 'new posts' list
Or - you can click 'Mark all forums read' at the bottom of a menu page to clear them deliberately.
If you want to see what's missing off your list, logout and click 'view today's posts'
Is that as clear as mud? :D

Sometimes when I click on view new posts it updates the lists of all threads othertimes it only updates the most recent and just leaves a couple of pages.
Is this a forum thing or is it down to my PC and more importantly does this thread make any sense.

yes, no, yes. :)
this took me ages to figure out....
When you log on, it tells you all the threads that have new posts in since your last visit. If you log out, and click 'today's topics' you'll see a different list.
If you log in, and click 'new posts', get engrossed in something else, and then come back, you'll find that the forum has unofficially logged you out (you've gone off the list on the homepage) and it starts the 'new posts' list again, assuming that you had read all the rest ;)
