Have a bit of a quandary - your advice appreciated.
I have a large *.chm file.
The original plan was to convert it to PDF format, and possibly print. Since then, I've read mixed reviews of various chm to pdf converters, so that's on to the back burner for the minute.
Another later idea was to write the chm file to a CD in some format....
"Best idea" suggestions welcome, please!

Well, a CHM is a compiled Help file, and there isn't a linear path through it, unlike a Word document. The best way to describe it, would be trying to create a PDF of a website, when the home page has multiple paths from it.
Is this a CHM you have created yourself? If you have the source for it, then there are quite a few tools to convert it to PDF (but still with the chance of the page order being a nonsense) - stuff like RoboHelp, DocToHelp etc - otherwise you need to bite the bullet and try one of these converters you have found.
Is the aim to get an easily printable version of the CHM, like a manual?

Spot on....it is indeed a manual.
As I write it has been converted to one rather large PDF file - courtesy of a borrowed CHM2PDF Pilot app - and on quick glimpse, it seems to have done the job fairly well. A few of the diagrams are a bit iffy - they tend to span 2 pages rather than sit on (the original) one....I guess Pilot doesn't recognise 'page breaks'. That said, the menu/index is complete....
Yes, I can now write it to a CD and navigate to the required section, but I was still wondering if there was a "better solution"....i.e. a more user-friendly/easier to read method.
