dieselbabe 09-09-2009, 15:30 Have you had a look in the Sheffield Interest Groups bit of the forum. Have a section just for weddings and is very good and helpful with tips and place people reccomend.
Linky to the group...http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=97
Do you want a pub, hotel, community centre?, any particular area, and for how many people?
Might have a few suggestions.
I'm having mine at Norfolk arms at Ringinglow next June

mardybum 09-09-2009, 21:24 We had our wedding reception at The Old Rectory in Handsworth and would highly recommend it. Lovely old building, great service and reasonable prices. http://www.handsworth.org.uk/oldrectory/
geckoqueen 09-09-2009, 21:27 I have just made the same comment on the wedding section - we used The Sherwood (Frechville) and were very happy with it
We had our wedding breakfast and reception at Niagara conference and leisure, Wadsley Bridge (South Yorkshire Police club) in July this year.
Room hire is £225, DJ £160, food is great and very reasonaly priced.
Our day was amazing and I would definitely recommend this venue. They did everything they could to make sure the day ran smoothly and they also have have their own events co-ordinator.
Type niagara sheffield into google and use the top link (I cant post a link as I haven't posted enough).
mistym00 09-09-2009, 22:05 whar area are you looking at?
Have you thought of Beauchief Golf Club? It is a municiple club so you don't have to be a member, from the signs outside it looks very nice on the inside! Good luck!
patrick38 10-09-2009, 08:59 have u tryed swd on heely bank rd it ok in there

medicgirl 26-09-2009, 09:49 We've just booked the Mercure St Paul's Hotel right in the centre of town for our reception next July (getting married in Italy but having a reception/party when we come home). Really nice setting and spacious. I looked at Kenwood Hall but much preferred St Paul's.
we had ours at the kenwood hall, lovely setting with extensive grounds and lake ect, cant see how you could compare it to st pauls as there two totally different venues with the st pauls being a city centre location with no outside space
medicgirl 26-09-2009, 16:03 Yep, that's fine and I'm glad you liked Kenwood, I'm just saying that for me St Paul's was better, I also had a real problem with the attitude of the wedding planner at Kenwood, but hopefully others won't.
The Maynard 27-09-2009, 17:19 Both The Maynard and Whirlowbrook Hall are worth looking at!

tim schafer 17-11-2009, 13:53 Hi,
Im the wedding coordinator at The Old Rectory in Handsworth.
We are a fantastic Old Georgian stone building set in quiet lawns on the edge of town.
We can offer rooms for anything from 10 to 150 people, Excellent catering, licensed bar and a fantastic friendly feel.
We have some saturdays in 2010 left but not many, and we are offering 30% off room hire for friday wedding receptions or just evening buffets.
We are a very flexible venue, we are not part of any chain - so can build your day around your needs.
have a look at our brand new Wedding venue web site for sheffield at http://www.orh.org.uk
Revenuegirl 28-11-2009, 20:50 We had our reception at The Sherwood Pub at Frecheville, Sue and her staff were very professional and helped make our day and evening special. They were very reasonably priced also, the meal was great and entertainment brilliant. I would highly recommend anyone to have their wedding reception here.
jodie morton 01-12-2009, 15:49 hi i live in rotherham their is a hotel their called holiday inn they are really good they do a package far a grand and you sleep over for the night
Abbeydale Sports Club have started doing more functions and is very good value. The room isnt the most glamorous as it stands but can easily be made to look fab with decorations etc and the food there has seriously improved, very good last week when we were there. Not an expensive choice.
hcotterill 17-01-2010, 13:54 I am getting married at the end of june, and need to find a place with a function room where i can have an evening party. It has to be on a low budget too, and on the mosborough side of sheffield. Any advice would be so helpful :)
We were married last may at the Clumber Park hotel nr Worksop - its worth the short travel. Fantastic staff, wedding co-ordinator couldn't of been more helpful, food out of this world - no complaints from our 80no guests. And you can stay over with use of their new spa - Fab day!!
linzi_13 17-01-2010, 17:32 We got married at the Tapton Masonic Hall, that was lovely..... the staff were very firendly and helpful, the food was lovely, very very good day had by all. Our guests enjoyed the day and commented on how lovely the place was, and it wasn't too expensive.... some places charge a fortune and they weren't as nice when we were looking around.
Mosborough Miners welfare club, or Queens Pub. both have function rooms.

lilmisslovet 25-03-2010, 08:47 im having lots of trouble trying to find a venue like this in sheffield
lwb-wedding 25-03-2010, 09:29 what venues have you tried so far? I know most have minimum numbers for hire but I thought it was around 50-60.
lilmisslovet 26-03-2010, 10:02 well ive been looking at the hotels mainly, as i dont want a traditional sit down wedding breakfast, just an evening style doo, and minimum numbers i have been given so far are 60 and it will be extreme good luck if i get that many and then they want up to 120
lilmisslovet 26-03-2010, 10:04 i found static off west st though it looks a bit chavvy for my tastes, had perfect numbers and dj
Jen&Aaron 26-03-2010, 14:59 I'm having my reception this august at the wig and pen in cathedral quarter, its still classy but quite good for a smaller, more relaxed reception, although they will cater to your needs. So you can go as formal or as casual as you like.
http://www.wigandpensheffield.com/functions
Here's the web site, and i know i sound like a raving a little but they really have been fantastic with us.
busybody 26-03-2010, 15:28 Try Wood Lane Countryside Centre Stannington, Lovely venue Iam getting married there.
lwb-wedding 26-03-2010, 20:24 As others have suggested you might be better trying smaller venues, there are a few in the city centre that are reasonable. I would second the recommendation from Jen about the wig and pen its a lovely intimate venue.
