RUGBY RULES
ITS TIME FOR CHANGE
Now that we are world Champions its time to take a lead,
and change the rules of Rugby- these idea’s you must head.
At the World Cup they said that we were boring..
Just because we realised that kicking was best for scoring.
The present rules just award a bare 3 points for a try
With 2 more if you’re lucky and convert the 3 to 5.
Our brave lads realised that it was easier to boot,
Just to kick the ball over the posts from penalties or drops.
Our opponents, on the other hand, were daft
spending hours bashing into our backs and props,
Who floored them with great glee, and broke a rib or two,
Our opponants never realised there was a more painless way to score,
Namely, kick the ball over instead of trying to break down our front door.
So, if you want more tries and fun, it’s the rules that must be changed.
Here are my ideas on this – read on and think on too.
First we make it 5 points for a try and 3 more to convert.
That will straight away mean more tries and a lot more people hurt.
Then, a really major thing, and think about this hard …
First imagine what little fun would soccer be
without a goalkeeper to save the penalty.
Of course to change the Rugby rules to kick beneath the bar
would change the game completely and make it just bizarre.
So my next idea is this,
do not dismiss it out of hand till you have thought real hard.
So, have you seen those bungee jumping things in fairs and shopping centres?
Kids and adults too are suspended in a harness from a frame by elasticised ropes.
Then they bounce up and down like demented dopes.
If you are still with me on this –
imagine how much fun, in Rugby it would be if this were done.
I mean a bungee-man suspended up on high
Trying to save those penalties – we’d laugh so much we’d cry.
Of course, the chances of a save are low – between nil and five percent
However, bungee-man would give his very best intent
His chances are a little better if he bounces high and low
Just thinking of his antics makes me feel so good
Would it put off the kicker – well I think that it would.
And bungee-man would soon come to understand,
that whenever our kickers were in range, in free play
He would have to bounce his very best in case a drop kick should come his way.
These changes I do most strongly urge, I’m sure a trial will prove
A bungee man and more points will make our Rugby game improve.
