View Full Version : Which Chip Shop has the best home made pies
ineedtechno 05-09-2009, 15:59 Hi
I don't particularly like fish so i was looking for the best pies! Green step and two step pies i think are a bit watery... thats near where i live looking for somewhere else. Home made ones!
Thanks
lizmachin 05-09-2009, 16:12 I don't think I have ever found a chip shop that does home made pies. They are usually the horrible things made out of old beer mats.

they usually have pukka pies, which are made out of puke, like the name says.
ineedtechno 05-09-2009, 16:21 there are plenty im just trying to find some in sheffield if you really have never seen a home made pie in a chip shop your going to the wrong places!
Ginger Daddy 05-09-2009, 16:43 You cant get a decent pie in a chippy in Sheffield. Its all this puff pastry nonsence.
For a decent pie, go to Manchester/Lancashire and get a Hollands pie.

Never heard of them.
Never heard of them.
they are from wales and appearing all over the place, in super markets and in chip shops - they are excellent.
Ginger Daddy 05-09-2009, 18:00 I will have to find one.
stonecircle 05-09-2009, 18:12 Codraphenia just off Walkley Lane near Spotsman pub did homemade meat and potato pies, however it has just changed hands so maybe not anymore.
Not a chip shop (though it does sell chips) but Perfect Pie on South Rd in Walkley does home made pies - but shuts about 3pm
The little chippy just at the bottom end of Loxley Road at Malin Bridge always used to do home made pies and my OH says they were very nice when he had them, but we haven't been there for a while so that may have changed.

Someone else who prefers the hollands pies too  Everywhere in Sheffield seem to do pukka pies and they are pretty rubbish, hardy any filling and puff pastry! I also miss puddings that all the chippy in Manchester tend to do, I've not found a chippy here that does a decent pudding either:(
