I'd like to replace my fan as the current one is extremely noisy. Firstly, I'd like advice on what to buy, preferably not much more than £20, then an idea of the complexity of doing the job myself.

I've looked on several tecchie sites and promptly fell asleep, my method of denial that it's too complex to understand.

Processor, according to Belarc, is a 1.25 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP.

Board: K7S41GX 1.0
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. P1.90 08/20/2004

Anything else I need to know?

Any help gratefully accepted.

Which fan is it that's noisy - the CPU fan or the fan inside the power supply?

Good question. Is there a simple way of finding out?

Fire it up with the case open :) You can probably tell by putting your head fairly close whether it's the cpu fan. If all else fails, just disconnect it - it won't make much difference to the cpu temperature if it's only for a few seconds.

If you want one, I have a couple of Socket A Zalman Flower heatsinks - open to sensible offers...
