I remember going to Pickfords in the 50's with my dad to pick up his brand new Hillman Minx Van.

It was snowing and we never did make it all the way home. We had to leave it burried in the street for a couple of weeks.

Hi folks - have been doing some internet research into my 1970 Sunbeam Rapier H120 ( Holbay engine ) and was amazed to find this thread and here the stories and happy memories you have of Pickford's in the 60's/70's.

My car was supplied new by EH PICKFORD & CO. on 19th August 1970 to a customer who lived in Stradbroke Road, Sheffield.

The car will be undergoing a full restoration and the intention is to return it to it's former glory as it would have been in the Pickford's showroom.Who knows some of you may remember it as it passed through??
Would be great to hear more stories from back in the day of Rapiers etc.

The car now resides in Somerset - here's some recent pictures (originally had a black stripe)

Hope they bring back some good memories!

Remember Les Clayton very well (but not from his Pickford's days), like the father I never had :) He had more than a passing resemblance to Frank Cannon :hihi:

Anyone remember Harry's leaving "do"? A good time was had by all. When we got back into Sheffield me and Steve Booth decided it would be a good idea to go to the Crazy Daisy/Geisha Bar for the last hour.

Hi. I worked in sales from '73 to'75. With Bob Potter, Reg Gethin, Tony Orwin, Pete Bestwick, Jim Barrowdale, Les Walker. Bob Till was new car sales manager, Les Houghton was used car manager, and not forgetting the lovely Jenny in sales office . I'm sad enough to still have a 1971 Avenger 1500!
