Until recently this would have been pretty simple. However, thankfully Hollywood seem to be taking a lot more grown up stance to making comic book films (could be soemthing to do with money)

There are now many notable nominees:

Blade
Spiderman 1 & 2
X-Men 1 & 2
Daredevil DC
Batman & Batman Begins

and its nice to see more offbeat films such as American Splendour and Mystery Men

However,

my favourite would have to be Ghost World. Not only is it well written and well acted it also captures the essence of the comic itself.

I'd agree with Batman (the first one with Jack Nicholson as The Joker) and Batman Begins...

Fantastic 4 though wasn't that good IMO, yeah it was as true to the source material as it possibly could be, but sometimes that can be a bad thing..

Blade,
Judge Dredd
Constantine, (tho' not totally faithful to the original story ie, John constantines' character, but still I loved the film)

Sin City - perfect adaptation of the comic.

Agree with Sin City- brilliant.
Ghost World is a bit different, very faithful to the comic version.
Film adapations rarely do the comics justice for me, and often tarnish them a little. The film version of League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen has arguably wrecked the reputation of the exceptional comic version, which is very unfortunate. Looking at the trailer of V for Vendetta, the prospects don't bode well there either. In fact, anything by Alan Moore seems to get systematically wrecked in the "play safe" hands of Hollywood. Fortunately for him, and fussy fans like me, the film version of The Watchmen has been shelved. Long may that remained unadapted.

Judge Dredd, I thought, was a spectacular flop. In the right hands it could have been a very successful movie franchise. Imagine the potential for plotlines: The Bloc War, Song Of The Surfer, Judge Death, Cursed Earth. Whose preposterous idea was it to cast Rob Schneider as a comedy sidekick? And removing the helmet to reveal... Sly Stallone! Sacre Bleu!!!!

I was hopeing for a Judge Death film, the dark judges were my favourites when I was a lad, them and Fink Angel.

Sin City was by far the best. It was like watching your thoughts whilst reading the original comic.

A masterpiece!

definitely is you like the film.

I was iffy about the original theatrical release. It was ok but nothing special. The dc makes it a much better film.

Toughy but:
Loved all Batman films (haven't seen most recent YET), impressed by Tim Burtons gothic approach and Joel Schumachers comic book interpretation.
Loved both Spiderman films,
Hated The Hulk, mindless and unsteady plot IMO.
League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen was fab and nice intrigue in places, great character interaction.
Fantastic Four was pretty good, a little slow at times but pretty good.
Daredevil... fairly mediocre, it needed more OOOMPH.
Elektra - haven't got round to but got it lined up
Loved both X-Men films, cool characters, needs more story though.
Got bored with Judge Dredd
Loved Blade, all of them, v violent but gripping.
Catwoman - lukewarm.
Superman - time for a remake please, same goes for Supergirl.
Wonderwoman - bring it on!
Mystery Men - hmm just a bit too juvenile for me but still fun.
Constantine - I expected to be amazing but I found it a little dry, has more potential though.
Wish a film would be made of Witchblade or at least bring back the series!
